What items in the Task Manager can I shutdown safely?

Hi, I just started using XP and I need to shutdown programs running to free up system resources for certain games. What tasks can I safely shutdown without causing problems with the computer running correctly??

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think you're going to get much satisfaction killing running processes with that system. It's not that it's a bad system, but with XP you're pushing the envelope. The ram would be a good place to start (to 512) if you want to stay with that system. If you however want to start upgrading everything over time then start with that CPU....K6 doesn't play well with newer games. Of course, then you're talking about motherboards and such....soooooo, wet the end of your pencil and figure out what you can afford to do. In any event...good luck with whatever you decide.
