I have decided to post this thread due to the recent problems that windows XP skins and Wallpapers etc. are having on the community.

To XP authors, :- please for the sake of God please dont do any more updates. There is nothing new coming out of Xp skins and it does not benefit the community to keep re hashing old skins. I ask you and urge you to prove your skills as real skinners and show a real show of originality in your skins now. Also consider producing new a fresh idea's to share within the community.

Many of you have thought me to be taking this issue to personally, but in a great way I have done due to the fact that I was in the center of the storm which XP created. XP has ok been re hashed and updated by that many skinners now the idea of Luna has become boring. [Poor old Microsoft] I do feel sorry for that. After all the development that went into it.

I have submitted my last work on XP so I make a simple request for others to do that. wether you considered your work to be un finished or wether it was to keep you in the top ten (If it is this reason I think thats shallow) and plays on the gullibility of the public)but please stop doing work that just looks the same as the last ! as it not helping anyne.

I agree Tog, but maybe ( benifit of doubt given ) Cat is just a little slower to find them than we are. She just updated like any of us would if we found a probelm.

Why don't we cut her some slack for a few days.

Well what actually happened was a few days ago some guy E mailed me and was good enough to tell me that he had found some bugs in the Luna skin I created.

So i opened up skin Studio and found to my suprise that I had also found another error because the Graphics for the tab buttons was not in the skin at all. So i fixed this, and did a few more tweaks while I had the chance to. So there was this and the problems this guy had mentioned. I REALLY dont like leaving skins uploaded that are not working right.

If some one is good enough to download a skin of mine then I can at least provide them with a good quality skin. I rather do that than answer a hundred e mails from people saying the skin wont work.

So yes I was slow at finding the bugs, but that is because I did not know about them until a few days ago.

BTW: - Yes I know I have asked other 'XP Authors' to think about doing the same. And give XP some slack..

But I notice MCS2k1 is now on his 7th update of luna and it seems like there will be more. Maybe some of you guy's should start asking him why HE needs SO MANY updates ?

Ok,[grins] I think what I have been trying to say Alexandrie is that I DO want to go on to more of my own creations, but I really hate leaving bugs in skins.

I guess I want people to realise one day soon that I am not Just an XP Author, but can create my own things. But i will have to show people this in the future.

As for XP all I can say is ..

it actually amazes me how after the amount of updates which have been done in Sections such as Desktop X and Object Bar, that I seem to get the MOSt flack for doing XP. Some of the Authors in this sections have done between them easily 20- 30 odd updates ? I could not count for sure as there is so many. How ever, I have not seen one word posted on the themes complaining about it.

Many of the authors of course have never drawn a single pixel of the theme and have used what others uploaded before them. It still happens now too. They call themselve skinners and artists, but nothing they uploaded is even a pixel of there own creation,.

This is where my work on XP differs. Even though it is still classified as being un original, and not new, I made many of these files specifically for use in the themes I did. I did use a paint brush, as well as many other tools within a Paint program, but at the end of the day I cannot claim any kind of copyright to them. This is fine for me, but at the end of the day I am still the author of that particualar theme. so if some one comes along and uses the graphics I made, and say's 'Oh I downloaded them from a certain place'

Well you can see by this they are just lying, but when you see in there theme the very graphics you uploaded, and know that they are the same ones you made. In this case it really is hard to complain about it because it comes from an OS/ is based on an OS's graphics.

So this is part of the reason I want to some of my own work.. At least balance my submissions out now, so it is all not one thing.

I LOVE your sarcasim Sylva but your words hold no truth and you know that as well as I do.

I respect other skinners and have NEVER said that I am better than anyone elese. Not only have I never said this but dont even think it either,.

There was a thread once that said congratulations to me for getting to number one once, but i played that down too. Some suggestion was that has a rival arrived for Treetog. But I replied that Pigs Would Fly if I was ever as good as him.

So you willfind there is nothing to what you have just said, no truth what so ever.

Well maybe you can give me some tips on how to be the most Sarcastic Gal on wincustomize ..Sorry ONLY Teasing..

Well sorry but excuse me for being Kind Hearted towards people who want a Theme in a certain resolution but no one had bothered to support. As I am the kind of Kind Hearted, and general nice person I some times do these things due to the fact people write to me and make a personal request.

I really did not personally want to make the Theme, but it is really just a request that as been forfilled for people who wanted the theme. For the point that people who are making XP skins besides me, I guess this post would indeed have been ignored to that degree anyway. The post was an attempt to help at least curb the amount of XP skins, but as I say I never actually planned on making this skin/Theme.

..oops now people ask is there a 800x600 version no ! no more please...I want to be set free from XP !..yep they can download that other Metalic theme for DX

Maybe if a specific person requested it you could put it on your personal website (if you have one) or email them directly. If you don't have a web site and don't want to email it I would be happy to put it up on mine. Should you get any more speicfic requests that is.

Hmm thanks pjpowell. I will remember what you posted here if the situation is needed again. I have not found time to finish my own site off so this would be nice !

As for spidermonkey, since when did this site allow personal attacks on authors now ? comment on my work by all means, but dont start to attack me in person. I have zero tolerance for this within the community. No one author should be treated with comments like the ones I have seen posted towards me. Over the past few weeks, I have found a percentage of the comments were directed at me and not at the work I had submitted.

This to me is un acceptible, and would like to know if Wincustomize is also operating a ZERO Tolerance nature to this ? Some how I am not sure.

If it is ACCEPTIBLE for Authors to be personally attacked and recive things like harrasment, abuse of any nature, Then I am afraid that this just makes me sick. Anyone who condones the treatment that I have been given over this XP Crap, are just as bad as the ones who made the personal attacks at me.
