The Great Depression

Well I am a big fan of this game. The first game took months off of my life and the second one has take much more. But after a couple year break, some lost cds and other issues, I decided to come back. I bought this game on here. So joyful was I when I tried booting it up on my cg 5270 with 8 gigs of ddr2 ram, gt 220 1 gig of video memory, intel quad core 2.5 Q8300, windows 7. I bought the ultimate edition. Then my darkness began to descend upon my life. I double clicked for the launcher, and launch the game, and then, nothing. Just a large darkness that engulfs one of my two screens. I then fool around and get the 1. whatever newest version that suppose to be here to work. Try using any of the expansion installations do not work. I downloaded this game three times and yet no luck. The metaverse has exiled me and I feel great pain with this darkness.

Try using only one monitor and see if that helps.

Also, in the My Games folder you should have a folder for your new Gal Civ game and in that folder there should be a Prefs.ini file. Make sure to look at the screen resolution settings in there:

DisplayWidth=1680
DisplayHeight=1050

Change those to your actual screen resolution (and only use one monitor).

Lord and behold, it worked. It was attempting to expand out on 1920 - 1080 when my gaming screen plays on 1600 900. I can still use my other screen for the 1080 vids though so I am happy. Now if only someone was out there that could make a really good shooter instead of the MW2 and BC@ mess. somewhat fun games, still disappointing.
