Are we not allowed to assign people to research tech? I can't select it. Is this intentional?
People and buildings contribute to the general arcane or world research pool and don't need to be assigned. You simply have to choose the technology/spell you want to research in the window that pops up.
I don't think you get to research world tech in the campaign do you?
correct, researching disabled for the campaign.
That is intentional for the campaign. As you progress other technologies/spells will become available. The campaign plays a lot differently than the sandbox mode.
