SkinStudio Bug/Quirk ?

Not sure how I've missed this and I don't know if it's been discussed before so I apologize in advance for any redundancy

The MoreProgramsArrow in SkinStudio, well.. in the preview the "Pressed" and "MouseOver" states are reversed. At least thats how it works on my machine.

You may well be right, but since I've never figured when/if the "pressed" version is used, I've tended to duplicate the highlighted state for the pressed too so I've not noticed.

I have noticed a few other places where things are shuffled slightly. For instance, when working on a universal skin, the vertical task bar button states are in the wrong order (I can't rememeber which way their messed up now). In this case though, the UIS2 editing shows it correctly (unless you designed the buttons based on the "wrong" order and then switch to UIS2 as I've done a couple of times now...in which case you have to shuffle them into the right order!)

There's also some other issues of images being swapped or not converted correctly to actually work as a skin when working on Universal skin format to do with menus, background images and animations which when I get the time, I'll send in as bug reports on the newsgroups - unless they end up fixed before I get to it

I would never have thought that it mattered. Because when you move the cursor over the "All Programs", it is highlighted, and pressed because the menu shows. So, my question would be, why would it matter? I just think of that image as a two state button.

Perfection is why it matters

I think you may be right Ingui.

Just checked: Yes you are right! That explains why my mouseover wasnt working right. Thanks!!

Not only is it reversed in SkinStudio, there doesn't appear to be a "pressed" state for the arrow in the actual menu.

Hey Sput, Sounds like you know alot more about skinning than me. I have yet to discover the other issues you mentioned. But Duplicating those 2 states does seem to be the easy answer. Thanx. And that would also answer Chas' question...
So, my question would be, why would it matter?

Of course I like DarkMist's answer (BTW- Hey DM, How you been?) Anyway, as I was saying. It would matter to someone like me who, isn't all that familiar with every aspect of SS. I've said before, I don't find "skinning" Windows particularly difficult, just "deep". There is a lot to it, or can be depending on what your final goal is. So Chas makes a good point,
I just think of that image as a two state button

One of those things that you "know" but never gave thought to until you apply your skin and realize your image states are "whack".
I've just never seen this mentioned before and was't sure if it was just some odd behaviour on my end.
A.) Glad it's not
B.) Hope this posts helps others

Ciao

Ingui - you might like to add it to the "The Un-Official WindowBlinds/SkinStudio Documentation Project" thread as a tip? It's just the sort of thing that's useful to be there for people

This is also true. I had noticed this before.

Çërêb®øJÐ - with things like this, is it worth still including them in a skin in case they are supported later? Since I'm still learning the foibles of WB/SkinStudio, I'm tending to create these things and then find they don't work as yet, but I'm leaving them in in the hope that someone sometime later might appreciate them if they suddenly start working...but now I know they don't work, I'm tempted to skip them. What are other skinners doing?

Okay, here's one that is really funny. Why does the windows buttons say that there are six states? But, only allow three frames, and in most skins only give an explanation of three states? And, even in the instances where some poor soul did make a six state button, the frame count still only showed as 3. Meaning that only 3 frames were recognized by SS.

I try to do something there, just in case.

I think I found another bug: In the "Task Pane"/"Panel Content"/"Title Bar" section, are the "Down and "Down Mouse Over" images switched? It seems that they are to me, and I have had to correct for this. Does skinstudio have this issue with anyone else?
