Jumplists: Issues with transparency/blur

I am attempting to do my jumplists with a "seamless" semi trans look and I've run into a couple of issues.

Here are the 3 images that make up the section.

Frame

Center top

Center Bottom

These 3 images are 90% opaque.

Here's the problem. When I apply the blind the center part isn't transparent. It shows up as solid. Only after cycling through a couple of jumplists will transparency be applied. It's important to note that the trans effect will only apply if I open several jumplists with a history list (like an explorer window with a list of recently opened docs)

See example

Notice also that the bottom and right side of the list aren't being blurred like the rest of the panel.

My question is: am I doing something wrong or is what I'm attempting to do impossible?

Also while we are on jumplists, why are there text margin, font, and color setting for this section when they have no effect?

Bumping only so that it shows on my comments page O:)

I get this same thing. Haven't noticed whether or not some parts blur while others don't, though.

You see it clearly in my screeny, right?

One more thing: It makes no diff whether you have cut out the center section of the frame or not. I tried it with a semi trans section in the center. I even tried it with a big old red square in the center just to see if it showed. It seems like the top and bottom center parts cancel out the center part of the frame....no matter what's there.

EcoLogical has 2 states for each section...trans and opaque (opaque for lame vid cards).

All 3 sections are medium see thru and work fine...but no blur at all on any of it.

The blur maybe a tagalong from the taskbar or start menu blur setting...because eco has blur on neither and neither does the jumplist. The Jumplist gets all its text settings from the places side of yhe start menu...mouseover image too...so that maybe where it gets its blur if your seeing one.

Technically SKS says the center bits dont support trans...but it work perfectly here.

Now I went to a start menu with blur and yes the center parts are blurred on the jumplist.

Try adding a blur setting to the code for your frame.

Disabled blur on all sections. Taskbar, Startpanel, and perpixel windowframes. the Jumplist still auto blurs.

I tried it out, and had no issue with it. I got the transparency on the first click. I have 32 bit though, and Tim has 64 bit. Maybe that is where the problem shows?

disabling blur on the user pane also got rid of the blur on the jumplist for me.

No reboot...just 1 jump menu with no trans at all til I opened another and went back to it.

Cant make the frame blur tho.

Tim Just 1 hr ago I was doing jumplists for a win7 update for a skin had the exact same issue SKS say you cant have tans in the middle sections and after I applied it there was no transparency then while working on another image  I hit a jumplist and it was transparent . So I thought maybe we had trans support now so I redisgned the image applied and No Trans ;P   5 mins later it was back.

No much help but comfirming the issue now I am back tto an image with no trans as that works every time.

I figure it either will be trans...or it wont...either way it looks ok.Just add it to WB's I feel flaky list. (I have a long one) Poor Neil has seen most of the list. ^_^

Thanks Harley and Mike. Perhaps Neil will see this and give us the official poop :)

I think you are both correct!

My solution did not solve the problem just made it stable!

I guess I'll have to decide if I hate the way mine looks on fist apply enough to change the design. :(

I have Win 7 64 bit and confirm Tim's findings.

it does mention, in the jump list help, that only the outside frame can be transparent. and I see in your screenshot that you have transparency?

The trans works well on the frame, but it's fickle for the center section. Sometimes it work, sometimes not. Oh well, I'm going for solid. 10% transparency isn't worth loosing any sleep over, I guess :S

The use of per pixel transparency in the middle area is something that can have issues which is why we recommend in SkinStudio that you do not use that.

I will look into why the blur is a little random, but for now it is best to avoid that.
