windowblinds problem

quick launch taskbar shows the wrong icons

Suddenly, my quick launch taskbar shows icons for the wrong programs when I start the computer--I mean icons for programs I've never put into the quicklaunch taskbar.  If I hover the mouse over the icon, the banner with the proper program name pops up, so the proper programs are still in quicklaunch.

The only way to get the right icons back seems to be to change windowblinds skins, and then change back.

What happened, and how do I fix it?

Thanks,

Jessie

Hi Jessie,

You might try doing a restore point to an earlier date and see if that works.  Window Blinds would not change your default program icons.  Another thing you could try is cleaning out the icon cache on your computer.  You can find instructions for that in How To Geek.  However, if you are not comfortable with editing the registry, it would be better to try using a restore point to a date before the icons changed.  If you mess up the registry, you could have much bigger problems.

If you are talking about the Start Menu, that is determined by the skin as is the Start Button but I've never had WB change the actual program shortcut icons in the taskbar.  You could also simply try creating new shortcuts for the affected programs if using restore doesn't work.

I lost my icons once, especially in the start menu, showed only the default program icon. I could change the default but not individual programs.

Never did get them back. thought some of the WC programs had something to do with this but was unable to track it down, good luck.
