https://www.stardock.com/products/universemetal

Turbo-Charge your Windows desktop with Universe Metal 2004! It's a new premium suite that uses Stardock's technology to completely change the look and feel of Windows. It's like running a whole new OS.

Based off of Pixtudio's outstanding Universe Metal suite of yore, Universe Metal 2004 completes the picture with a host of new enhancements:

  • WindowBlinds 4.x based visual style to change your title bars, Start bar, scrollbars, etc.
  • All new progress animations!
  • All new toolbar icons
  • A all new icon package to replace your existing icons that you can use on your desktop, with IconX, or with ObjectDock!
  • A DesktopX 2 based wharf on the right side with quick searches for dictionary.com and google.

Plus:

  • Universe Metal Wallpaper
  • Universe Metal Windows Media Player
  • Universe Metal Winamp skin

And best of all, all of this combined is only $8.95 ($7.95 if you previously purchased Pixtudio Universe Metal).

Sales of premium suites help pay for the running of WinCustomize.com. Check it out at www.universemetal.com

Just wanted to add one more point: The Universe Metal 2004 icon package icons support 16x16 all the way up to 128x128. They're by Paul Boyer (Mormegil) and because of the massive resolution support look really cool in a variety of settings.

Though I've applied tons of Windowblinds and a few other items, I still hesitate to buy something like this. If I knew I could apply all the components with one program or click I just might get it. Is there a program that does this? Sorry for the newbie question.

Rage, yes there is. It's called theme manager or Winstyles. It applies everything at once. Great theme. A classic.

Rage - yes, it comes with Theme Manager that lets you apply (or unapply) the entire thing in one click seamlessly.

I was looking forward to this update of the suite, the reason why I waited to purchase it. Now I got it.

Damn, this is looking real nice, but I think that $7.95 is a little steep for an update. Don't get me wrong: I understand the "support" aspect of it all, but I've purchased EVERY skin suite/cursor/icon suites + object dock, and shelling out more cash for this update seems a little over the top! What I am really interested in are the icons, but I think that, for the first time, I'll have to pass .

i agree, i think $7.95 is bit much for an update. i too have purchased just about every premium skinpack and suite offered from pixtudio, the skins factory, essorant, and stardock. a dollar off the full price for an upgrade? i'll have to pass as well. that aside, good work as usual.

Ditto..
Although it is a fantastic pack, there is no way I will put another $7.95 into it.

I have had the orignal version for a long time and loved it.. This updated version is much better. 7.95 is worth it when u see the extras added. Awesome stuff been using if for almost 2 weeks now.. love it

That's certainly your perogative. Bear in mind that outside the older pieces of the WB skin and the Winamp/Media player skin this is all new.

Hmm...very nice, but is there any way at all we could get a wallpaper minus the "2004" text?

theme isnt my style, but I'm intrigued by the desktop x component. Argh, I'm gonna feel real silly buying the pack just for that, hehe.

Alright frogboy. It better be worth it. >

Just as a matter of interest, and by way of a comparison, how much are PC magazines selling for in the states? They cost about £5 or £6 here, so paying $8 is around the same price as buying a magazine in the UK.

And much more fun, obviously!

Oh - forgot to say - cool suite! Definately one of the best ever. (and thanks chuckyboy!)

Hmm, hasn't this been there for 2 months now ? Or is anything updated since then ?

Part of the idea on suites is that any given major piece is worth $8 or $9.

For example, the Orion icon suite is $9.  This suite includes a full icon package.

I always liked the style of Universe Metal but wanted to see it get updated with all the new goodies and combined with icons and new DesktopX stuff to have a UniverseMetal OS type look and feel.

BTW, I purchased this, but before I just couldn't get rid of it also. 1 machine has to run Universe Metal here. =

Ok, Ok, I'm buying it... those icons look astonishing! I can't resist the urge!

I got it, am using it, and personally feel it's worth all of the $9 that you pay. Kudos to all the guys that worked on this. Tim D. has a great point: why complain about $8 for a suite when you'd pay that much for a comp. tech magazine (or in my case a couple of mochas at Starbucks). I used to hate the idea of premium suites. But now my feelings are that if they are the quality of the stuff that Pixtudio, Stardock, Tim Dagger, and Skinplant are putting out these days - BRING IT ON!!!

Brad, that's a good point, but if it's a full blown update it should at least contain a logon and a boot screen as well, these days that's a must for any premium *theme*, that's the way I see it. Having said that, I bought it, looks good
