Extremely bad FPS, great sim speed, help?

9-10 sim speed through entire game, low fps maybe 7-10

I am really frustrated with the lag I am having in single player skirmirsh mode. I have graphics set to low as they can go, I have a gamebooster software that closes background applications to save ram space and cpu, I turned vista aero off, all vista settings are set to performance, I updated all drivers, im stuck at this point.

I have 4 gig ram

a nvidia gforce 7100/ nvidia nforce 630i

Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2.50GHz

I think these are ok to run the game in lowest graphics plus all the extra stuff I did.

I play WoW and it works fine no lag, and I think wow requires a better system.

Any help would be appreciated...

Edit:

I did all the nosound options, changed sound options, drivers are updated.

Sim speed is 9-10 all through the game, but it seems like my fps is very low, maybe 7-10?

if my sim speed is ok, how can i fix fps?

WoW can function on a relatively simple video card.

Minimum: 3D graphics processor with Hardware Transform and Lighting with 32 MB VRAM Such as an ATI Radeon 7200 or NVIDIA GeForce 2 class card or better
Recommended: 3D graphics processor with Vertex and Pixel Shader capability with 128 MB VRAM Such as an ATI Radeon X1600 or NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT class card or better

Demigod requires a lot more.

A: Minimum System Requirements:
  • Windows XP SP3 / Vista SP1
  • 2.4 GHz Processor
  • 512 MB Available System Memory
  • 8 GB Available Hard Drive Space
  • 128 MB 3D Video Card (ATI Radeon X1600 / Nvidia GeForce 6800 or better)
  • Sound Card
  • Broadband Internet Connection for Multiplayer
  • Stardock's Impulse Required for Updates/Digital Download

Recommended System Requirements:

  • 3 GHz Processor (Multicore Supported)
  • 1 GB Available System Memory
  • 256 MB 3D Video Card (ATI Radeon 2600 / Nvidia GeForce 7600 or better)

Also, if I'm not mistaken your card is a basic integrated video card which is generally unsuited to high graphics games.

What is the resolution of your monitor and what resolution do you play the game at?  Also, who is the manufacturer of you motherboard so i can pull the manual and take a look at the BIOS settings.

Demigod is a processor intensive game, not graphics card heavy game.  It appears that you have the 'processor' side taken care of which is represented by the sim speed and you definitely did all of the right things to accomodate the processor.  You coule probably turn your sound back on as well.  A couple of other things to look at:

1.  Be sure anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering is turned off in the video card settings.

2.  Adjust your resolution to be lower than the monitor.  LCD's are fixed resolutions and scaling them down causes interpolation of the pixels which causes a bit of a performance hit but it still may relieve the bottleneck a bit.

3.  If you motherboard supports it see if you can dedicate ram from your motherboard to the video card  (hence i need the manual)

4.  Are you sure it's your FPS and not game lag / connection?  Are your ports forwarded ?

good luck !
