Pain In The Arse To Set Up

Hi Guys

Have used one of the earlier versions of Object Dock sometime ago.  Decided to revisit. Glad I did.  I'm amazed at the options and new effects available.  Nice!!

However, when I download new Icons or Backgrounds, frankly it's a pain in the arse to set up.  Some downloads give you instructions to follow and I do this.  No problem.  Follow the same procedure for a different Icon or Background pack, nothing appears!! Perhaps each download folder should include a ReadMe file.  Backgrounds to the Background Folder right?  First to admit it's probably me.

Why can't  this be simple?  Thought I could just unzip a .dockzip and it would automatically go in the correct folder.  This is what is stated in the Package Files button in setup.  Find it absolutely incredible, with such a great program this doesn't seem to happen.  After all, object dock is really cool but come on guys having to manually put the Icons or Backgrounds into a folder is crap and prehistoric.  Everything else is cutting edge.  Great artwork, effects, backgrounds icons and the progam is really cool too.

Please enlighten me.

Yeah...it is confusing.

The reason is that no one uses the .dockzip method for 2 reasons.

1. It creates additional unwanted folders in your "My Documents" folder of all places.

2. Because when the backgrounds are placed in the folders created in the "My Documents" folder the additional custom Plus/Minus images don't work.

Now...this is all based in the previous version of OD 1.90 so it could be possible that has changed...but I doubt it.

So here's what you need to do.

All backgrounds/tiles/zoomers should be placed in your backgrounds folder in OD under programs.

All icons/pngs should be placed in a folder in your OD folder under programs as well.

If you have certain types of themes such as images for Winamp...AntiVirus....or any other type of app you use different images for just make folders that have those themes in them. All of which can be placed in the OD folder.

The .dockzip thing was a nice idea...but it just didn't work the way it should have.
