Cool!
Not that I'm going to use it because I'm using Window Blinds in Windows XP.
But I'm sure Windows 2000 users will be delighted.

Ok ... I'm sitting in Stardock Central now and it's still telling me that it requires Windows XP. I've hit refresh ... no go.

What am I doing wrong?

Works great with 2000 Sp4. Thanks fellas. Now I can finish that new skin I was working on...now that I know it'll be brought up to the WB 4.x standard.

BTW everyone, there's an update for Skinstudio on ODNT as well.

"XP that big A$$ Sucking Newbie OS", is what I use for my windows platform and I am Far from a newbie, for starters it shouldn't have taken you three days to figure out how to turn all that "Newbie Stuff off" which will then give you a os that is much like Windows 2000 but more stable, and has numerous little fringe benifits that 2K doesn't have... Plus it's the platform that stardock prefers at this point because of skinning flexability.... Xp is and evolutionary product of things learned with NT, 3.x, OS2, Mac OS and the the 9x platforms and it works well for the newbie and the "old timer" also.

I don't use Stardock Central, I've had problems with it logging-in in the past and I would preffer not to use it. Will the BETA for 2k be available on the ODN any time soon?

And to the XP, 2k debate. Some of use use both.

XP @ Home
2K @ Work.

Downloaded the beta: up and running! Still doesn't skin the stock calculator buttons like in the nifty screenshots, but I'll take it for now

Is it supposed to be skinning the start menu?

Stardock Central is the replacement to Component Manager. The official switchover takes place at the end of the summer.

Has anyone yet figured out how to get a version that works on Windows 2000? (I'm still getting the message that the version on StarDock Central is for WinXP only)

driven01- the Version 4.0(beta) presented in Stardock Central is the one intended for W2K systems in addition to XP (had to check the history to find that out, though). It's working great here, seems perceptably quicker to load and use as well ( thanx Stardock! ).

Figured it out. You have to set the option in StarDock Central's "Settings ..." menu to "Show pre-release" items.

(Thanks to whoever it was on USENET that pointed this out to me.)

I didn't know that this particular option had existed.

Finally a windows 2000 version At first it slowed down my computer thoroughly , but installing directx 9 seems to solve that...now let the new skins come our way ( probably will renew my Object desktop subscription now , the support for windows 2000 was the deciding factor for that , even though I also us XP I think software companies should basically support previous OS - computers : after all windows 2000 is not that old ). One of the comments was : "upgrade already ! "; well , if we have to upgrade every time microsoft releases a new OS it's going to cost us a fortune ( I even suspect good old Bill to release a new OS for the sole purpose of making money , not because this new OS is anything innovative or better than the previous one ! )

Crap, dude I was SOO excited about this I went out and registered and downloaded Stardock Central but it still says XP Only Someone please help me !!!

Well, nice that this finally got done ... not so nice that my subscription ran out between the XP release and this release :-/

(Though I guess nice from Stardock's perspective, if I decide to renew!)

OldSapphire, in SDCentral/view, show pre-release versions.
you should see 4.00 as a beta, click and install.

Could someone tell me - as I am thinking of getting a new Stardock subscription - will the WB4 skin the taskbar properly as if it were the XP taskbar?

I do have WB3.5 on my 2000 machine here at work, and the only reason I would go up to 4 is if it did the taskbar properly.

I don't want to run ObjectBar by the way as I find it a little slow, and sometimes unstable.

Cheers folks.
