Stardock is hiring artists..

Stardock's new game, Galactic Civilizations, is a hit. It's won numerous editor's choice awards and is selling very well.

Publishers have been approaching Stardock with offers to work on new games.

One problem: We don't have enough staff to branch out. A Galactic Civilizations II or Elemental or one of Stardock's other game projects requires more software developers and artists.

If you know 3D Studio Max or Maia and are willing to relocate to Livonia Michigan, send your resume to me at [email protected]. Samples of your work would be very helpful as well.

If you ever plan a game involving stick men and crayon style graphics let me know

Oh - and congratulations on the success too!

That's 'Maya' Brad.

If only I knew 3D packages... and lived in America.

(send salary requirements and a cover letter with the resume, also )

Lovely opportunity, but I haven't done that stuff since '94 My skills are a bit out of date, as with my knowledge of 3D graphics software.

Bummer

good question joetheblow.

I used 3d Max 3.5-5.1 quite extensively in college and use it now mostly for abstract work. Basic knowledge I have. Same with AutoCAD.
More details would be appreciated if possible.

You don't know how much I dream of having a computer game programmer job! I have self-taught knowledge of Maya 4. Some 3D Studio Max. Some SoftImage XSI. None of my knowledge is formal, institutional training however. All self-taught on my home computer. I know how to construct a skeleton with Maya and how to skin it. How to make the figure move and to make sure no warping of the skin occurs. This is just skimming the surface of my knowledge really. If you are interested in knowing more, e-mail me at [email protected]. Thank you! (This isn't Jennifer, by the way. This is her husband; Brian)

We're basically looking for people who can make artwork for our game. If you look at screenshots of GalCiv, you will see what version one looks like. It also has a lot of cut-scenes which were animated in house. There is *a lot* of art work involved in a game. Lots of screens, buttons, ships, aliens, all sorts of stuff. You need pretty tight skills and a lot of creativity. If you think the job fits you, send in a resume, cover letter with salary requirements, and some samples of your work. Stardock is a great place to work. And, Michigan really isn't that bad (at least not down here in the metro Detroit area).

And, about relocating, that can be discussed when a job offer is made. We determine that on how far the move is, and other factors. We also help as much as we can with locating apartments and so forth. (Well, by "we" I really mean "me", but that really doesn't matter )
