Formula One today

For those unaware 'JAFO' is Airforce 'slang' for an Ex O ....[Observer]....and that's what I am for the FIA and FIM.

This Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday marks my 31st consecutive Australian GrandPrix [26th International Formula One World Championship]

It's 'sort of' a holiday....the kind that includes standing in all weather...rain or shine....concentrating on the actions and driving 'standards' of some seriously high-paid maniacs hurtling around a street circuit lined with concrete walls at about an average of 100 mph..... with the possibility of making or breaking their 'day' with clear and precise reporting of them being 'naughty boys'.

It's the sort of holiday that requires concentration and being alert [and the clever skillz of being able to sleep while standing up - no-one knows you are asleep as they think you are 'somewhere else' listening to your headphones - so they don't bother you].

This year 'should' be fun....Schumi is back....and the last time he was at Albert Park he threw his car at me....little does he know I'm not on Turn 16 this year...I'm on Turn 11..... and besides...it'll not be a Ferrari this time...but a Mercedes instead...;)

With a bit of luck I'll try to grab some photos....;)

That's pretty impressive, 31 straight AGP's.  I bet it's a ton of fun too.

Well...it's day 4 of the meeting....the one that counts.

Vettel and Webber on the front row.....Red Bull is phenominally quick through my sector....[turn 11 and 12].

It's gonna be a good one...but late rain and twilight is going to be.......interesting...;)

And how is  Schumacher doing, since he can't run you over?   ;)

Jafo is there any chance for me to see this on satellite?

yep, another F1 grand prix for melbourne, AND another huge financial loss. The grand prix has run it's course in Melbourne and it is time to rethink whether it's to stay or let Sydney have the headaches and monetary losses that go with it. :)

its only going $50m in the red   X|   ... and thats with a lot of government sponsorship.

At least we get to see high speed cars going around ... and around ... and around ......

It should be on a sport channel philly

Found it, will be telecast on the SPEED channel starting at 11:30 PM MDT.

Jafo, you need to wave if the camera is on you in turn 11.  Just saying.  :sun:

Dunno he oughta do that!!!  Last time Jafo waved on circuit, Schumacher tried to run him over. ;)

Schumacher's excuse.... "Thought he was waving at me and it distracted me!" :-"

Who says you need alcohol to have fun?
Spray some H2O on a racetrack. Add 20 F1 cars, and watch the fun.... ;)

T'was an enjoyable race today - apart from that local tosser, high on Red Bull(shit), who'd found his way onto the track, trying to run the competition off. ;)

/me has high hopes for the race in Malaysia

Who won? :-"

Jenson Button......

Any spectator... er, tosser who's full of Red Bull(shit) and runs onto the track/field at any sporting event and ruins it for others should be covered in honey and tied down on a red bull ant nest

All those twits with their iPhones checking the weather...saying we were in for 'real storms' got it wrong.

I just looked at the sky and said "there'll be just enough rain to be annoying"...and I was right.

Race was good....we spend all our time being directed when to wave blue flags...and there's not much else to worry us....after the first expirie [7] got the number of runners down to 17.

That was Australian Grand Prix number 31 for me....all have been great events....none of which have been formally 'in the black'...and none have been $50 million in the red, either...that's just BS from those who hate to see any segment of our community actually enjoying something they do not care about.

The AGP is the world's second longest running GP....after France.  It has real history and is a pleasure and honour to be part there-of.

My plan is to keep at it until I've reached 50% of all the GrandsPrix ever...as I will likely be the only one to have done so, certainly as a JAFO.  Already I am the only one to have done all 26 of the International F1s in the modern era as a Communicator.  Of course, by then I'll be well into my 70s [motorized Zimmer frame and all]...;)

Well into your 70's, eh??

In that case, make sure that motorised Zimmer frame has only two speeds... dead slow and stopped.

Well, you wouldn't want it pulling you over, would you. :-"

Anyhow, glad to hear you had a good time... and didn't get too wet.

Hamilton really screwed up in his rental car...which was impounded after he did donuts and burnouts in a public street.

Note to all Super-Licence holders.... you ain't God and/or above the Law.

He won't be the first International driver to find himself confronted with a Fine next time he's entering the country for the next GP.

I have been 'observing' drivers' conduct for longer than most of these guys have been alive...and Hamilton has just lost all respect from this little wood duck.

There are drivers...and there are great drivers.  He is just another brat with ego.

What a ****head!!  Like we haven't got enough petrol heads, hoons and dipshits on our roads already, and this supposedly professional driver does something stupid like that.  It's hardly the example we need shown to our young (often impressionable) drivers.

My brother was one of only 2 survivors in a carload of 7 that crashed while the driver was hooning/showing off for his mates.  Oh, and the other survivor, you guessed it, was the driver... who was never dealt with seriously enough by the law and never did any jail time. Five years later he did the same thing... crashed with 5 passengers, killing all but one.

Punishment for his crime, however, was taken out of the equation this time... he was pronounced deceased at the scene.  At least he won't be doing it again, but we don't need twits like Hamilton giving the impression its a cool thing to do.  Frankly, I hope they throw the book at him next time he's here.... a very fucken big ginormously heavy book.

Take a complete knob, give him fame and fortune, what do you get? Someone with enough money to be an even bigger knob.

Just throw him in jail - we don't want him back.

Ah! this is what happens when to take notice of the "Save Albert Park" spokesmen on the air waves before the race. I should of treated it with a grain of salt. I blame that horrible Australian affliction I have 'the tall poppy syndrome'. ^_^

The media is giving Webber a hard time over the Hamilton issue. At a private function he called Victoria a Nanny State over the road rules. Now the police have come out complaining about what he said. The tabloids are going to have fun with this.

Webber has not had a great Grand Prix. Lets hope he will do better for the other races.

donuts are so stupid, i dont even get why idiots do it, all your doing is falking out money for more tires, shit like that dosent impress me, it just makes me shake my head.
