Roxio Readies Easy CD Creator 6 Beta

November 7th, 2002, 6:26 AM

Roxio is looking for experienced users to beta test version 6 of its leading CD and DVD authoring software for Windows, Easy CD Creator. Applicants must be willing to evaluate beta builds on a weekly basis and provide feedback, as well as complete an overall functionality and usability survey.

Only users with a DVD/CD burner will be selected for the test. Because beta releases will be distributed in ISO format, testers must also have a high-speed Internet connection.

Before applying for the beta, applicants are required to become a member of the Roxio Discussion Boards, as the boards are used for beta discussions and release information.

To join the Easy CD Creator 6 beta test, review the full system and tester requirements and fill out the short application on Roxio's Web site. Roxio will contact selected testers via e-mail to complete additional steps.

Thanks to Nate Mook @ BetaNews.com for this Roxio Easy CD Creator update.

Mmmmmm...from past experience, I would beg to differ...I have to admit although nowadays I use Nero Burning ROM at work and at home, I prefer Easy CD Creator - precisely because as its name indicates, it's easy to use.

But then again, one man's meat...

I have to go with Nero also. I used Roxio since early version 4 when it was still Adaptecs product. I switched to Nero earlier this year because of constant problems, and my problems went away. Also, when I installed Neros "InCD" (DirectCD) I had to rid my system of all the Roxio leftover stuff, I became very disappointed in the number of their files left on my system (In addition to what WinXP installed). I've had "0" bad burns from my systems since making the switch. I'm not saying Roxio is a bad product, just a little buggy. Also, very hard to completely clean off of your system. Nero also installs all of their stuff into the "Ahead" folder for easy and complete removal.

tallenglish - bloatware aside (which most of the popular programs today suffer from), I still think Easy CD Creator is easier to use; it picks some straight forward defaults, doesn't harass you with that Nero wizard thingymajig at startup and just gets on with the burn - no checking Joliet-so-n-so, no "CD is copyright" warnings, ad infinitum, ad nauseaum.

Radial_FX - I should take a photo of the wall behind this PC and post it up for everyone to see - I stuck all the "coffee-coasters" Nero did for me on the wall in a neat patterned layout, quite eye-catching...like I said...one man's meat, is another man's poison.

All my fellow System/Network Administrators and I call it Easy Coaster Creator. Even with the patches, it can turn your system into a coaster... I've seen it screw up on more machines that I can shake a stick at.

Nero, Fireburner, WinCDR...ANYTHING but Easy Coaster Creator.

Well now, all the roasting. I have used Adaptec since, I don't know when but I have never had a problem. I am using it now with XP and I have never had any problems. Nero was to complicated to use. I like things simple. Ya'll have a nice day.

Thought this was about Roxio releasing v6 of their Winoncd burning software not Roxio's Easy Coaster Creator. I have to admit that I have used Nero, Easy Cd and Winoncd and I always tend to fall back on winoncd as its easy to use and even my uncle can use it without any problems. Im using Winincd v5.02 and this installs without a glitch on XP. I'll look forward to getting my hands on the v6.
