NEW YORK (AP) -- As if junk e-mail and pop-up ads weren't annoying enough on their own, now there's pop-up junk e-mail.

A developer of bulk-mail software has figured out how to blast computers with pop-up spam over the Internet through a messaging function on many Windows operating systems.

The pop-up messages appear on recipients' computers in separate windows, similar to pop-up ads that appear when a user goes to a Web site.

But there's a difference: Anyone can send the messages, and there's no need for the user to have an Internet browser open.

Thanks Dagwud. The Yahoo/Nazi memorabilia thing is what I was referring to. And please, I am not condoning Nazi memorabilia. I'm just using it as an example of the kind of global trade that the French are trying to restrict . . in France.

The US have done the same. For the Olympics, NBC has broadcast exclusivity for the USA. But since there is no way to know if the people visiting a website are from the USA or not, no video footage of any Olympic event will be available on the Internet as long as NBC has exclusivity right or that someone comes up with a way to ensure that visitors are not Americans. No website anywhere in the World is allowed to broadcast Olympic events.
