Finding Artifacts

Hey all.

Yep, its me again with yet another question. I was wondering about Artifacts. I'm using the in-game map builder to create custom maps with stars, planets, types of planets, # of players, etc. I'm not using Galaxy Forge so far.

Are artifacts pre-determined at the game start up? Or can I save / reload to get artifacts to pop up on my planet if I "explore planet" enough times with save / reload trick? Finally, can there be more than one of a type of artifact? Like there being 3 Artifact A's, 2 Artifact B's, 4 Artifact C's, etc. in the galaxy considering my current game has about 190 colonizable planets. Or is ther exactly one of each artifact in any map, regardless of how many planets there are?

Artifacts are figured out from the start up, you can save your game then surrender and keep playing and see where they are at

And you can have mulitples of the same artifact

Game rate for finding artifacts are set at 15% this can only be changed through the Galaxy Forge bit

So the save / reload trick doesn't work with artifacts, similiar to how it doesn't work with planet bonuses + exploring planet?

nope, believe me I've tried (the mod I use has a particularly nasty planet "bonus" so Ive learned to save first then check and reload if Ive found that nasty one in particular)

Ryat, what do you mean by that? If you save and then go back to that save, the planet bonuses you will find will be different in DS?

No. But you can know not to search for it.
