Starbase Upgrades

I just started playing this recently. I found it at Target for $10. Best 10 bucks I ever spent. My wife disagrees, but that's only because she misses me ;-)

As for my question: How do I automate the process of sending newly created constructors to a starbase for upgrade purposes? I thought I read that somewhere, but now I can't find it of course.

Thanks

That's only possible in the 'Twilight of the Arnor' expansion. Double-click on that base, there you can check "allow auto-upgrade" and change also the built-priority.

I have always found it easiest to set certain planets to constructing nothing but constructors, then launch them as they are built but leave them next to the planet. When I have enough, I fleet them up and send them to a starbase. That way I don't have to deal with upgrading it every turn or so, but can 'fill it up' in one shot.

Yes, this way avoiding some micromanagement. You can also build only hulls instead (constructors cost maintenance) and upgrading them the turn before they'll reach their designation.

But most efficient is to use everything you have ASAP. One possibility is to set a rallye-point to an auto-update station and construct a unique-named vessel and route this to that base using the governor - once the base is finished simply re-route these to other bases - lets you built out your bases with just having to use the planetary governor and (occasinally) checking the status of your bases.
