22 months of pregnancy...seemed to end...abruptly. An impressive event.

last year on tv i watched an elephant give birth for the first time in australia, i think it was taronga zoo, but i could be mistaken, it was really awsome to see! and then they had to protect the baby cause the mum went a bit nuts for awhile, but then they bonded, it was the most amazing thing i had ever seen.

I saw that as well... it was truly amazing stuff.  I've always been in awe of birth (animal and human) but the birth of an elephant is something extra special, probably because of the sheer size of the animal and length of pregnancy... like WOW.

I love the animal docos they are great, but the best is the animals giving bith. thanks Barb :grin:
