Please help - download problem (Fixed - My Solution Posted)

Ok heres the skinny of my problem -

Today I go to open Windowblinds and I get the error that sevenconfig.exe has encountered a problem and has to close. I tried reboot no luck. So I figure I will just update it and mabey this will fix it. Well my object desktop registration had expired so I went ahead and upgraded it and proceeded to download the update. Well before the update finishes it stops and tells me that the file downloaded is larger than expexcted and will not let me download the update to install. The only thing that i have not tried yet is a complete uninstall and reinstall - but am going to do that next beause I did send a ticket in and am assuming they will probally ask me to do that before anything. Only problem is I do not remember where my blinds are stored on my hd so I can back them up before the uninstall. Can someone please point me to where I can find these files? I got to many to have to hunt them all down again.

Also if anyone knows what the problem is here and knows the solution could you be so kind as to share the solution with me? My Windowblinds has always ran flawlessly for many years till now, and I only installed one other program since WB was working perfectly and that program was a little program called ClickFont, could that have possibly broke my WB application?

Uhhgg -

Please help I can't live without my WB :P

Thanks in advance ~ Allen

The new version of WB stores the blinds in "All Users\My Documents\Stardock".. check there for any skins you want to back up.

Thank you for the quick replies - And especially thank you Hankers (problem solved)

For anyone else with same problem here is what worked for me - I still have no idea why Windowblinds started erroring in the first place, but here is how I got it fixed -

On Hankers first suggested link a user mentioned unchecking "show pre-releases" in the Impulse preferences. I did that and tried the update, this time it finished without the "download is bigger than expected" error and extracted and installed and after reboot Windowblinds was back in order saving me a complete reinstall. Hankers you Rock!!!!

Thanks for both of your responses, and machinehd, I always forget that directory but this time I wrote it down :) Thanks a million you two.

Best regards

Did you have the beta version of WindowBlinds 7 installed?

Honestly I am not sure, but I think I did because if I remeber right at the bottom of Impulse it said I had ver. 6. something (Beta) and the update was ver 7. And it seems I might have had the beta installed cause I remember although it was ver. 6 it had the new interface that ver. 7 has and that is why I downloaded it.

But unchecking show prereleases allowed a flawless update and cured my Windowblinds error :)
