Why is this game so complicated?

My first cpu game i really like and it so f***ing complicated. I cant play online or ICO, took forever to find the patch why isnt there an auto update? why cant this game be simple why do i have to to do a ip forward why doesnt it just work. star craft works, gulid wars works but i actually like this game and it doesnt. i need help from support i sent an email and if any of you have any help sugesstions i would appericate it. this game is starting to piss me off.XO

The problem was the Impulse (the platform used for patching) was launched after the release of Sins of a Solar Empire, so they had to migrate over to it.  Once you have impulse installed patching is simple, but unfortunately it is a hurdle to get there.

This game is the equivalent of a B grade movie that made it big.  Somethings that aren't perfect you just have to get used to, or move onto the next game.  I will say this though, Impulse is your friend after you figure it out.  It is more then just a tool to download patches.  You can use it to uninstall, reinstall, archive, buy the expansion packs which you won't see in stores and of course update games with the latest patch.  I would speculate that the biggest problem people have with getting Impulse up and running is failure to read directions.

You can play with random people, just click the "join game" or "host game" buttons.  Friends lists are mostly worthless as sooooo many people play under a variety of names.  I just use NWcityguy2 and feel free to add me to your friends list as I'm always up for helping a new player.

Ok i know im new at this but when i hit multiplayer and click join it says disconneted from server. i can t join any games im playing from a laptop so its wireless

You need to hit Ironclad Online not multiplayer.Welcome to the game.Dont let jerks scare you away from mp its really where the game is at.Dont give up.Cya around.

ok i get on ico and it says add player remove player thats it i dont have the entrenchment so is that why its not working?

no you need to add a player...the player is the name you will go by one ico...each account have have multi players names....add a player then join the lobby

If someone is hosting a game with a mod or a custom map, you can't join unless you also have the map or mod.  For mods it isn't enough to merely have the mod but you also have to have it enabled.  You also want to make sure that you don't have any mods enabled because if you do you won't be able to join any non-mod games (about 95% of them and almost 100% of the non-friends-only games).
