You might try manually installing the driver in Device manager. What exactly happens when you plug it in to your USB port?

do you have a wireless router? also, some usb dongles don't have drivers for a 64 bit os. what specific model do you have?

loukeeya can you hook the belkin wifi directly to a usb port on the computer and not use the usb dongles?

i got a belkin wireless g+usb adapter    no router coz i use mobile broadband

Sorry to tell you, but if you do not have a wireless router in your home, your Belkin Wireless USB adapter is useless.  It is made to connect with a wireless router.

That is correct.  The Belkin G USB Wireless adapter is made to connect to a wireless signal, like that generated by a wireless router, but it will not connect to a mobile broadband service.  A mobile broadband card only receives the signal generated by your mobile broadband service, it does not send out a signal that can be picked up by anythign else, it only receives a set signal from your mobile broadband ISP.

There is of course, the ability to connect via ad hoc (a node-to-node network), but that would not necessarily apply in this situation.

I would agree that if you plug it in and it doesn't light up (or prompt you to install drivers) the device is defective.
