How does Life steal nad BotS works?

Hi

Got this strange question. How does the BotS and Nimroth Ring works.

I mean the Mana regeneration and Life steal.

The thing is when i play Reg and have BotS, with Angelic Fury i can recharge mana all the time, by creeping. And Life steal also work ok with it.

When i play e.g. UB and I spit on somebody or I use Ooze the Life Steal or Mana Regeneration from Blade of the Serpent dosent work. But still I'm doing dmagae to them

Does it mean that i need to attack an enemy with my DG weapon and not an abillity?

If so, why when i play TB and cast RoI (not the initially weapon of DG but an abillity) it regenerates my mana by BotS (I'm not sure with the Life steal).

That means if i get the e.g. Doomspite Grips with UB the effect will be like in Reg and Angelic Fury case ?

Somebody know how this two work ?

The other thing is:

I think i just don't get the idea with "on hit" phrase. Does it mean when I hit something or when something hit me or both?

Serpent blade works on abilties adn weapon damage, lifesteal only on weapon damage.

If you look closely, you will probably see that you get a bit of mana back from the initial damage of venom spit, but not from the DoT. I think it has something to do with how the game classifies buffs and debuffs, IE the damage isn't considered as coming from "you" (in the case of ooze, which is probably a buff on you, whether invisible or visible), and there's no system of debuff ownership, so the game doesn't know that the DoT from the spit is your damage. So it can't give you mana from it.

When a debuff like Spit kills someone, the game knows who did it. Good theory otherwise.
