Capture the flag

So after listening to random sound bytes due to bugs in 1.2 I heard "The Dark/Light Flag has been captured" and thought if someone created a map like a long straight corridor with flags and placed a flag in the center then had the flag apply debuffs like "no tele, no speed buffs, no abilities, no item use" then dg could have a cap the flag mode but you would need to prbly make the flag an item thats dropped on death so you could carry it back to base.

anyway would this be fun and could it work?

yeah neither can i. it might be something that the devs have to do, but i want more game types than conquest/slaughter (which gets boring) and fortress (which is broken due to oak)

I think there definitely should be a "team survival" map - Waves of creeps keep coming and they get stronger and stronger as we level up and we just have to hold them off until the last wave. Check Enfo's Team Survival from Warcraft 3 for inspiration.

i think even the best modders arent that far to try to change the game mechanics itself. mrrappard and chiamory are propably actually the guys with the most knowledge. ask them.

The game has a "capture the flag" mode already in the mechanics. It has just been disabled. It was in the beta and disabled prior to release, but there is thread here somewhere, where someone, i don't recall who, buggered i think, found the code in the lua's and re-enabled the mode.

Think of it as a an early mod before modding was released. If if can find the thread in question, this should be an easy enough mod to do..i'll get on it after my latest batch of new favor items is done.

And just a quick summary,

New Game Modes:  Joining the original Conquest mode are Dominate, Slaughter, Fortress and Capture the Flag. You can currently achieve victory by either completing the game mode's conditions or by destroying the Citadel. You can also set default options for each game mode.

  • Dominate:  Control the flags on the map until you reach a specified War Score.
  • Slaughter:  Kill opposing Demigods.
  • Fortress:  Defend your own forts while demolishing your enemy's forts.
  • Capture the Flag:  Capture and return the enemy banner. You cannot capture the banner unless your own banner is safe at your base.
