noob needs help please

Hello I just bought the Galactic Civilization ultimate edtion.  Never played any of the series before but it looked fun so I bought it.  Been fumbling around in my first game and I have a question about ship design.

Whenever I add armor to a ship do I have to apply it to all the hardpoints or does placing one on a hardpoint cover the whole ship?

Also is their any tye of strategy guide for new people?

All that matters is the numeric value; the location of the little "plate" is purely cosmetic.

Once you've got the basics down, I would strongly recommend you to reach out to the forum members with more specific questions - my gameplay and therefore enjoyment of the game has improved tremendously thanks to the ideas of plenty of people here on the forum.

And there are tons of topics in the "Strategy" section of the forum related to beginning players, they are often a good read as well.
