Fussy, you'd have to ask the individual artist...I don't think there's a set answer. As to whether you download or not, that's up to you...but the skin being "Vista Ready" means that it will skin all skinnable parts of Windows Vista. It doesn't mean the artist is obliged to put in the user picture thing.

My taste runs the opposite from yours, I much prefer without that picture thing. Too bad MS didn't make this a part of the OS you could "take or leave".

The blue glassy userpic background :puke: looks good with very few themes and is thus removed by many artists.

I never put a user pic in a skin. Damn ugly things if you ask me ;)

Might seem a bit fussy but a valid issue for those customers that like a user pic it's a valid point.

Personally, its WB's lack of abilty to customize the user pic frame or even colorize that has led me to stop including it in my skins.

Good point. I'm sure if we could skin it then more artists would keep the user pic. As it is now, it's an eyesore!

I agree 100%I think i did once and then set WB to change to the user pic I included to complete the theme! But even then I think the general consensus is usually no pic!

I think you will find that many artists are willing to try and get you what you want so if you find a skin you like you can always ask the artisit to add it back for you are large number of would do that I know I have done a good number of custom tweaks for individuals!

On those skins that use the user pic, the first thing I do is turn it off.

I've always wished that turning it on or off was something that could be done within Windowblinds, including being able to turn it off in Aero. It's easy enough to turn off but alot of users are intimidated by Skin Studio. If it could be easily disabled in Windowblinds, I would think most skinners wouldn't mind leaving it in.

Points taken, appreciate the replies.

This minor issue (for some) caused me to go back to msstyles

I'm currently using Longhorn Aero Power RC2 by sagorpirbd, a nicer skin I've yet to find, (in either format)

Thats my problem, I,m stuck with it!

Cheers.

Since the user-pic is what everyone sees at boot/login (if you use a password or have more than one user) I think it is an item that truely should be incorporated into the theme when possible...  I go so far as to make icons for my user-pic, drives, trash and even expolorer.exe so they kinda' match the theme.

Don't ask me about my LCARS phase :P
