WB6 won't install

How do I upgrade to WB7

Since Win7's release I installed the 64bit Home Premium. Then I tried to install WB6 and got a message saying that it wasn't compatible. I understand the reason. However; I am a subscriber so how do I upgrade? Or isn't there an option for that. Do I need to buy the WB7? Basically I need some clarification on this subject.

This is probably addressed several times so if it has then link me over.

You need to open Impulse, click on the menu icon in the top left corner, check "Show PreRelease Versions".  You should then see Windowblinds 7 - that's what you're after.

Sorry for the VERY late response. Ok...I've done that and I don't see it? Hm..

EDIT

Yea...I confirmed and I don't have WB7 shown

I think I owe you an apology - I think I misread your initial post.  When you said you were a subscriber, I interpreted that to mean you are an Object Desktop subscriber.  Looking at your screenshot and back at your post, I think what you were saying is that you have just the Windowblinds, not the Object Desktop.  Is that correct?

The difference is that the beta versions are only available to Object Desktop subscribers and the Windowblinds 7 is still a beta, so you'd need to have an ODesktop subscription to get it.  Here's a thread that goes into it, a little dated but I believe still applicable:

Sorry again about the confusion.  And of course, if I've missed the boat yet again, anyone's free to correct me.

If you qualify for a free upgrade to WB7 from WB6 it should be showing when you enable Show Prereleases.

When did you buy WB6?

Yet again, Sorry for the very late response. I have various applications regarding WB. I also have; Icon, Cursor and Sound. All were purchased seperately at various times. If I am understanding this correctly, I am not eligable for this "free upgrade" as I am NOT a O.D subscriber.

I had purchased WB over a year ago and was my first purchase. Then the rest of the apps followed. I have no problem purchasing O.D.  I dunno...I guess I (purchased sperate apps) did it that way because I was nieve or I wasn't thinking correctly and maybe I only wanted certain apps.  Anyways, the bottom line is that if I don't quailify then I will purchase whatever I need to continue using the software of choice. I mean, if I can spend over 3K on my gaming rig then why not?

*EDIT*

I just seen something. Could I upgrade to O.D or the ultimate for having some of the listed apps? LINK

Yes, on the upgrade to OD.

If you haven't chosen between Object Desktop and Object Desktop Ultimate you might want to have a look at this thread, it might affect your choice:

https://forums.wincustomize.com/367639  , particularly the next to last paragraph of the original post.  Quoted here for your viewing pleasure:

"On December 2, 2009, Object Desktop and Object Desktop Ultimate will be merged into Object Desktop. Users with Object Desktop Ultimate will get a full year added to their account (so now is the ideal time to pick up Object Desktop Ultimate)."

Thanks to both of you. Only thing that really makes me hesitate is all this fuss that is circulating around WB7 and the like. I mean...reading around here in the forums there seems to be a bit of turmoil, doubt, skepticism and all kinds of stuff. I mean, is OD going to work or not? And why wait so damn long for this to be released?

My god, it's almost like a whole new OS being released or something?! LMAO!!!!

People rarely post in the support forums to tell you how great a product works. It is still in beta so it does still have a few bugs to work out but for the vast majority it is working fine.

You're absolutely right. I guess it's about how bad do I want it. For an example: Back in 2004 when Vista was mentioned and was available FOR FREE I didn't even touch it. I was curious but I didn't want to touch it. So about alittle over a year/half ago was my first time using the x64 Ultimate. Same thing for Win7 x64.

Anyways...maybe I'll wait. However; I am getting tired of looking at Win7 desktop. *YAAAAWNNNNN*
