Stuttering in multiplayer

I just made a new computer and on my old one running Vista 64 I had no such problems mind you I am using the same router setup so it should not be affecting it we have had several lans with several different computers and never had this problem. Now I am running Windows 7 64 and in the multiplayer (was playing a local game 4v4 with a friend) I have stuttering every 10 seconds or so it locks up for about a seond. This does not happen in single player so I know it has to do with the handling of packets or something to do with the network. All my other games play just fine. Any ideas at what might fix this? I have realtek gigabit integrated ethernet by the way with the latest drivers.

I tried disabling my webshield and network shield in avast! and I tried running in compatability mode for vista sp2 to no avail.

Hello!

It sounds like you either have

A. the ping spikes glitch, detailed on the forums here (but with no known fix),

or

B. the Mystery Lag glitch, which we don't have many details on because, well, it's a mystery. You could differentiate between the two by noting whether or not your ping spikes to high numbers when your game stutters. If it doesn't, it's either your simspeed or the dreaded mystery lag. However, I'm afraid in either case there's not much we can do to help you :(

Thanks for the reply even though it is quite disheartening. I have a quad core i7 860 @ 2.8ghz, 4gb of ddr3 ram @ 1600mhz, oc'd gtx 275 and a 1tb sata 2 7200rpm hdd so I believe my simspeed would be a non-issue. Seeing as many of the stardock people like to game on windows 7 i would assume its nothing to do with it. I wonder if there is a similarity between people's nic cards or some piece of hardware causing a conflict with demigod. \

My buddy was over yesterday and it was fine on his laptop and when i had my old gaming laptop it was absolutely fine as well over my network so I can easily say it has nothing to do with my router. Hmmmm.......
