Where to get an update?

How to update?

Hello together,

I´m new to Sin of a Solar Empire. But somehow I ´m a little bit iritated about this page here.. It´s somehow confusing.

At first  I had to register with this page. Then I had to resent the activation key several times til I finally got it? x_x

Next I ´m searching to this page where to find the update files? :annoyed:

But there is only a download for maps?! Which I don´t need in the first place.

So can anyone tell me why I had to register here when I don´t get the update files? ( <-- I don´t really expect an aswer for this qestion)

I searched through this page but I didn´t get a hint how to get the files.

So it would be great if someone has a link with or description how to get an update?  :waaaa:

thx anyway

www.impulsedriven.com

go here, download impulse, will guide you the rest of the way for updates

ps. impulse is better than steam, if you are done with the updating of game you can erase impulse without any problems, though why you would I dont know it is a nice little program that keeps most of itself on the internet and has many other games you can spend you money on

Probably don't want to erase impulse, since this will mean you'll have to download it every time you need to update the game.  Just turn it off the list of programs that run dring system startup.

The game is registered to your account so as long as you sign into Impulse with the same account you sign in here with, you will be able to update via the 'Updates' tab.

Impluse is what Steam should be, no kidding. Unlike Steam, which I hate but still have to use, I enjoy having Impulse on my computer, and purchase games on it when I can.

I hate STEAM. I'm hostile to anything even remotely similar to STEAM.

Stardock won me over with Impulse, though. It's easy to use, streamlined, has a few nice features, and for the love of all that is holy - you can actually turn the damned thing OFF. It doesn't need to run to do anything more than update your games, once that's done you can turn it off and be free of it.

In addition, Stardock seems to be an excellent company - and they consistently provide great customer service. I've yet to have any problems with Impulse, and it is infact the only digital distribution software I trust enough to regularly use (or for that matter, use at all). Since SOASE, I've purchased several times from Impulse, the latest of which was Evochron Legends (awesome little game) just a couple of weeks ago... and again, I have thus far not had even a single bad experience with Impulse or Stardock.

Also, while you're right - it doesn't mention obtaining updates via Impulse on the box (I have thoroughly checked my box), it does clearly state in the manual that comes with the game on page 8 that you will need to register your game's unique serial number with Impulse in order to obtain updates of the game, and that it also gives you the right to download the full version of the game at any time in the future for no additional charge - which is quite handy if you break your disc somehow.

In short, relax - you're in good hands! 10 minutes or less of account setup and downloading Impulse from www.impulsedriven.com and you're golden.

Welcome to Sins of a Solar Empire!

PS: Vasari own all.

Boo to steam, you can't use many of your games offline...

I like the update system here, it makes sure that you actually have the game.

Ok Ok.

I see that somehow impulse  is a nice little tool. And you are right on page 9 (german version) I found the hint for impulse.

summing up: impulse: is a nice littel tool to update / buy / download my software. The only problem: Just don´t mess around in the settings, while you are downloading!!!! X( (Somehow it might have to do with SP2 for vista. But I´ll figure that out.  Works fine on XP)

Just one thing: Could the problem: "How to update " be included in the faq´s? For me (being new to impulse) it was a little bit inconvenient.

THX to all the replies and the friendly help I found here .
