Please fix these 2 things PLEASE PLEASE

Gamestate error and AI strength/intel

Love the game, but two things are irking me while playing.  Unexpected gamestate errors which kcik you out of the game and more importanly what happens when someone leaves.

When someone leaves the game for whatever reason it's almost certaiinly over for the team that gets the AI replacement.  The AI just acts as cannon fodder for the other team to gain cash and ultimately dominate.  Couple of quick ideas on this:

1)Make it so that when an AI takes over for an ejected player make it so if it dies in battle the other team doesn't get cash.

2)Improve inteligence of AI (hard to do i know).

3)Improve the HP and armor substaintially to at least make it twice as hard to kill.

Thanks.

As I recall, something like this is planned for an eventual update.  I believe the idea was that the host could make additional AI settings.  Here is a quote from one of Frogboy's (July) status reports:

  • New AI options  (on death)
    • 1. Gold/ XP: High (= to what it is today)
    • 2. Gold/ XP: Normal (= 50% what killing a human player would be worth) [default]
    • 3. Gold/ XP: Low (=25% of what killing a human player would be worth)
  • New AI option:
    • 1. Hitpoints: Very High (2X what they are today)
    • 2. Hitpoints: High (1.5 what they are today) [Default]
    • 3. Hitpoints: Normal (1.0 what they are today)
    • 4. Hitpoints: Low (0.75 what they are today)

I don't think this is going to show up in 1.2 (coming soon), but I could be wrong.  Even something simple like this would be an improvement to the current state.

to fix AI u do 3 things:

  • remove AI from the game.
  • allow a switch team option, to even the game up if possible.
  • allow shared control of players that have left.

(whispers another solution, one likely never to happen)

Host the games entirely server side which would allow in-game joins and rejoins when drops occur..........

Not possible. The technical requirments can't be met, Demigod has to be P2P afaik.

Rejoining is not possible due to the nature of the P2P system used. As far as i know those limitations would not be present when using server side as everyone needs to only sync with the server and not each other. I could be wrong.

And server side is an option Brad spoke of once, though i have not heard it mentioned for some time now, but it was mentioned as an option for Stardock to host all games themselves...

Like i said....whispers.....

From my experience with other games the best solution is to simply remove the player's hero and then the gold income is split between the remaining heroes so they get better items faster.  It ends up making things more even then giving them a dumb AI :P.

With no AI there is nowhere to experiment new builds and noobs bashing would he so easy. U will get poeple who wouldnt know how to use shop or what does right click do.

Shared control would be very hard (except regulus sniping from crystal) i cant imagine it working

I was thinking that game can pause when someone leaves and enemy team would have dialog shown saying something like: One of the users crashed, You can finihs the game without stats recorded, or one of players on team can leave to even numbers of players in both teams and continue the game.

Say u got 3v3, one drops, enemy team have option to end game with no stats record or drop one of their players and continue 2v2.

Agreed that AI are necessary in the game.  But in multiplayer play, if an AI takes over for a human making it so they other team would get no cash for its death would even things up.  Cash is the key here, not exp. and not numbers of players.  I'd rather have it in some regard that if a guy quits then no AI replaces him.
