Planet Quality 43?

I just conquered a Drengin planet with PQ 43. It had Soil Enhancement and Habitat Improvement, but no other PQ modifiers. This means it must have started with PQ ~ 36. Anyone else run into planets that good?

Very rare for that to happen, but it does happen. Every once in a while, someone will stumble into a special event that boosts a planet quality.

As an example, say you run across a planet with a PQ quality of 26, and you run into an even that allows you to boost PQ by 40%. That takes you to a 37 or 38. Soil Enrichment and Habitat would likely push it to the 43 you're seeing. Also bear in mind, they might have a +PQ racial advantage as well.

what difficulty are you playing?

on masochistic I've noticed every enemy AI has an added PQ bonus of about 30% ... they have many PQ 24 planets, but after I invade (using traditional warfare) they get reduced to PQ 19.

So the PQ 43 planet could be a combination of this added advantage, some PQ boosting buildings, along with a PQ boosting event upon colonization.

There is also game events that boost a planet's PQ, they go something like "so and so on such and such planet discovered an ancient artifact related to the Precursors that has raised the planet to PQ 35".

Thanks to all responders. Makes sense now, and I just assumed control of a _pretty_ nice manufacturing capital ...

My last game I played had a planet with a PQ of 43. I got mine that way by colonizing a 30 something planet and then was asked to make a morality decision and picked the bottom choice that gave me a 40-50% increase. I'm new to the game so I was playing with a difficulty of "Cakewalk" :)

I once got the PQ35 event on EARTH very early in a challenging game... suffice it to say I had no trouble at all cranking out the ol' trade goods and wonders afterwards :P

I had a natural 26 once that when I settled turned into 28 or something. Soil and Habitat improvement it was up to 32 I think. Got the later terraforming techs and it was boosted to 43 and then higher. That was an amazing planet for sure. :HOT:

ive only had that high from taking over planets that used to be from the precursers. i never had one of my own planets be a precurser planet however.

My latest game I got a size 26 solIV that, with my 'magical' pq bonus, crystalline entity event (evil) and improvements, went up to 42.
Mid game a planet in another system got a random artifact event that raised it to 44! I'd already built all my capitals on the 42 so doh!
Funny thing is, about 15 months later the same pq bonus event occurred AGAIN on the pq44, but wasn't additive for some reason. I was pretty excited for a second there . . .

I've got 4 PQ 31 planets under my control in my current game, so they're cranking out a lot of good stuff. I haven't gotten to terraforming yet but I expect to see some pretty dramatic results when that happens.

I got over 60 once, with some lucky events and a bunch of improvements.

I think the maximum possible would be about 70, with a precursor event, a +PQ colonization event, and all the improvements.

Due to an event one of my planets upgraded to 38. That's the highest I got so far.

i had an event that made every planet in sol except earth raised by 9 pq, so one of the planets became 23 :)

I edited the files to create a new tech and a Planet Quality Trade Good. I made a typing error so when I started a game and built the Trade Good the PQ of Earth went to size 60.

Sheesh! It was too good, had to fix the typing mistake and start again.
