it can get a bit boring after a while, unfortunatly making maps wont be possible until the mod pack is released in 1.2

I have to agree, we definatly need more 3v3 Maps.

Well, I'll take one Scottish Alien over the guys who made Zikurat, or however you spell it, any day.

Amen to that.^

End of twifightDG's quote

Not going to lie; the way they did maps was horrible....

Raise your hand if you'd much rather have had simpler-looking maps but easily modded rather than forever be stuck with the current set of pretty maps that require tens of thousands of dollars worth of software to create (but they're pretty!)

Hmm not sure I care either way, both options have their good and bad sides. What I do hate though is that I bought this game with the promise of more demigods and maps. In the end we'll have 2 free demigods and that's it.

i think the massive multiplayer issues knocked the wind out of stardock at launch and set them quite off track with what they had planned. Possibly also fixing this blew whatever budget was available (both in money and time) to do other features.

That said, modding support should open this up some more, unfortunatly unless stardock takes an active approach in managing mods and making some official, which can be played in a multiplayer context and easily, i.e host automatically sends to client mod packages. It may take some time for lots of content to materialise.

Brad said that he more or less has an unlimited budget, but I can imagine he doesn't want to spend $10k so we can have a free map. Time is not an issue for them, because they don't make the maps. GPG does, and my guess is that after v1.2 we'll only see some small bugfixes and that's it. They don't wanna spend the money and spend all their time on SupCom2.

IMO the Impulse system should be able to list good mods and maybe even host them, depending on bandwith taken (dunno how much MB a mod will be). They said they wanted to centralize mod work, so I guess Impulse is the perfect system for that.

The maps are awfully bland, all the work seems to of gone into giving the maps a pretty background, which add nothing to gameplay except graphical lag, all of the maps are flat roads with towers on, that is all there is, nothing more, no interactive scenery, no height changes, none of the terrain can move, none of the terrain can block line of sight, none of the terrain does ANYTHING.

I do not see why it would be "expensive" to create them, all the maps are is roads with textures on and a very detailed uninteractive 3D background, drop the background and hey presto you only have to make a few textures and draw a shape with towers on, how much are GPG getting paid to design flat featureless maps? Because someone like Scottish Alien should be getting double their salary.

I was under the impression you needed a $10,000+ piece of software to design your own maps and demigods.

Don't hold your breath for there ever being new maps added.

This game only needs one map in my opinion and Cata is that map. It is very dynamic and good balenced.

It's not well balanced for competitive play, which is why I tend to prefer Prison(with all its locked up monster glory).

The game maps are just flat planes. If you guys will do the Lua scripting I will happily make you a ugly map to fight on. Just do it on a 513x513 grid.
