Unique Tech Trees

Hi guys,

I've just bought the ultimate edition of GC2 and am completely new to this game.

I was curious about the "unique" features of each race's tech tree. When creating a custom race, I have the ability to select these or "Minor Race" from the list. I'm assuming that the minor race option uses the standard tech tree from pre-Twilight Of The Arnor? Are the unique tech trees more powerful than the minor race option or are they equally balanced?

Also, is there anywhere I can look up a comprehensive list of changes for each of the unique tech trees in comparison to the original tech tree?

The volunteer-made Galactopedia provides a basic graphical interface that you can use to poke around and learn about the different tech trees. There is a 'Default' tree still in the set, but the minors have their own tree. Opinions about which tech tree is strongest/best vary and IMO it really depends on what you end up liking to do with the game. You can find many interesting discussions of the unique techs around here, but you're probably the best person to say which tech tree is the most fun for you.
