WindowsBlinds 7 bug

Looked at WindowsBlinds 7 on my desktop, and it looks great :). I noticed that it had a fluid layout, which I thought would be a big plus on my netbook, so I decided to try it.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work so well on my netbook :(. Most of the screen is black.

  • None of the background graphics are showing.
  • The "glow" graphic seems to be replaced by the preview.
  • The preview doesn't always update.
  • The ratings and search box are completely gone.
  • Windows XP/Classic previews do not appear atall.
  • Similar things happen in other tabs.

Using an Aspire One netbook with Windows XP. Atom CPU, 1 gig RAM, Intel 945 Express video, DirectX 9.0c.

CobraA1 I would not use WB7 on that netbook. Would work a lot better with 6. B)

Can you provide a screenshot?  It sounds like the UI folder off shared documents\windowblinds is missing.  I would reinstall it.

Shelbygt: WindowBlinds 7 is designed to be more suitable for those low end machines than 6.

Sure, not a problem:

Wouldn't be surprised. I've been having some permissions issues recently. Had to boot into safe mode to remove old files from Adobe Flash recently. I'll reinstall WB7 and look for that folder.

You're definitely on the right track. I compared Vista and XP, and yup files were missing. These are the files I saw in XP:

Interesting to note was that this folder and files existed even after I had uninstalled WB7 the first time. I'm gonna reboot to safe mode and check permissions. Sigh, I hate how Home editions of XP force you to reboot to change NTFS permissions :(.

. . . and OH GRR. It wasn't the file permissions. It was Comodo's antivirus. Congratualations, Stardock's installer is "Heur.Suspicious@30384401," and was blocked without warning.

That's with the heuristics in Comodo at a low setting.

Didn't happen on my desktop because I use AVG there.

Time to file a false positive report with Comodo . . .
