QoT offensive build? Lategame?

QoT offensive build? Lategame?

Hi I played a lot with QoT and usually going after an offensive build. I'm not a pro player, still doing mistakes, but having lots of fun with it. The thinking behind this build is doing as much damage as possible as early as possible. Here is where ground spikes and minions come in. Ground spikes reduces enemy defense while QoT does not do much damage. Therefore it is important to get as much conventional damage as possible. This can be achieved by minions (shamblers and idols).

Basically at lvl 11 I would have lvl 1 shield, lvl 3 shambler, lvl 3 entourage, lvl 4 spikes and at least lvl 4 priests and archers. You will be getting extremely strong from lvl 7 to around 13 when most players would not have stacked armor items and spikes still takes their def down noticably. This is usually where it is really fun as you will outdamage most other demigods (but you might have problems killing them if they run away, as going for HP/Armor is more important than speed).

The problem comes when a game lasts longer. At lvl 15ish people usually get high enough armor to reduce spikes effectiveness while your minions arent doing enough damage to kill them quickly. Usually I went upping morale as it increases your armies damage (40 damage per point when having 10 minions does not sound that bad) and it works well if you are already on the verge of winning at lvl 11.

But if it looks like that the game might last til lvl 20 I will become less and less effective except for killing buldings. I was thinking if it might be worth switching from offense do defense if the game might take a while after lvl 10. Theoretically going for goddess of thorns and bulwark of ages should give you 40% dam reduction´to everything while having armor of 4k+ gives you 60%+ dam reduction against auto attacks. Would put you dam reduction to almost 80% and together with the thorns armor and shield (reflecting 70 dam) you might be able to withstand autoattack heavy demigods when using shield and mulch. So far I've only tried it out once (and forgot to spec mulch...) and was at least able to withstand for quite a long time (meaning "more than 5 seconds) against a lvl 20 beast.

Im not sure though if it is really viable or if it would be better going morale and hoping that the added damage will help to finish the game before every other demigod gets too strong.

Anyone played QoT extensively since the 1.2 patch? Are shamblers still worthless?
End of cha0selemental's quote

I think both QoT and Sedna need to have their minions rethought, because they both have the same style of minion (hit a button and up to 4 appear, as opposed to Oak plopping down a ward and getting them automatically, or erebus killing stuff and getting them), and everyone says both shamblers and yetis suck.

EDIT: Guess i should say, what are you guy's thoughts on how to improve them?

I thought maybe have the shamblers have a chance every time they kill something to turn it into some other kind of plant elemental, lesser shamblers, if you will. Not sure about sedna tho, maybe something similar? Can't really just buff the heck out of yetis, else they'd probably be OP.

Well, I see that 1.2 forces you to take Shamblers IV to keep stats on par with what they were previously. (well, OK they are slightly higher... and I mean slightly)

Before 1.2 you could forgo Shamblers IV as a waste of a skill point and put it somewhere useful. This will hardly encourage me to use Shambler builds when previously I was only doing it for fun.

I am thinking that Spike / Shield / Wave /Morale + Idols is still the only viable QoT build looking at the paper changes, but I will play a bit more in 1.2 before I can say for sure. Maybe Shamblers have some behavior fixes that make them work properly.

QoT is simple inferior in alot of setups. I had an all random recently: 2x QoT + Sed vs 2x Oak + Sed. You can't win this unless the Oak team are complete morons. If they aren't you are dead. It doesn't matter what build you use, because the odds are against you from the start.

QoT needs to be fixed so she can compete in team games. It also wouldnt hurt to reduce the mirco that is needed to play her.

I think if she just got more minions, she'd be fine, or at least more fine than she is now. Maybe they should roll the Entourage bonus into summon shamblers, and change entourage to increase the max shambler limit, or something.

Because just comparing to LE or Oak, they're running around with like 12 minions, and QoT and sedna can get 4 max. And yetis and shamblers DEFINATELY aren't powerful enough to justify being outnumbered 3 to 1. Either massively buff them, or give us more of them, PREFERABLY with some way to auto renew them. I never realized how much better a system like LE's is, where you dont have to hit a button to get your army, they just automatically appear.

I'm not saying they should just clone that system, but maybe something where you summon the first 4, and they create more somehow, keeping that feel of having more of an army to start, while still giving us the ability to gain more. Maybe make it so the extra ones die after a certain amount of time, so you have to keep killing things to keep your army up.

For an example of what I'm talking about, play a game of DotA as the Broodmother, scourge side i believe. The adds she spawns spawn adds of their own that have a limited lifespan. Actually, i think the adds she spawns do too.
