War - Peace - War all in one turn!

In my current DA game (gigantic, abundant, max players, suicidal), I gained an Alliance with the Yor while they were at war with the Korath (easily the strongest empire, but cash poor).

I asked the Yor to make peace with Korath, and they said they'd love to, but that the Korath would not.

So, I bribed the Korath to make peace, they took the bribe and agreed, made peace, and then declared war again in the same turn!  That left me either declaring war on the much stronger Korath or forfeiting the Alliance with the Yor!

Back in MOO2, there was a period (~10 turns?) where an AI would not violate/terminate an agreement.  Apparently, there is no such thing in Gal Civ?

Delightfully sneaky, btw .... ;-)

I've seen backstabbing along the lines you describe, but it's a bit confusing about what "all in one turn" means. Every time that happened to me, the renewed war started during turn processing, not during 'my turn.'

Well, in the case above, the two new reports (peace then war) were in the same turn report to the player.

That is, I bribed for peace on Turn, say, 388.  Then, at the start of turn 389, I was informed that the Korath had signed a peace treaty with the Yor and the very next report below it (also turn 389) was that the Korath had declared war on the Yor.

End of LTjim's quote

That's sort of what I thought and why I said "a bit confusing." I've never really been clear on what 'turn' it is when the AIs are doing stuff after I end a turn and before I get that GNN report.
