hopefully a point of clarification

I feel a point of clarification is required due to the unprecedented slamming that I have received for stupidly commenting negatively about another related subject that was not the main focus of the original post.

The original post was about a suite made by many of the community for skinning.net. I visited the site and was disappointed by the site itself. Instead of opening a new thread and making my comments there about the site, I chose to make my comments within the original post. Hijacking the thread in that manner was stupid, unintended and very inappropriate. I apologize again.

The majority of slamming that I have received regarded my lack of support for the suite and the contributors to the suite. While at times I do things that can be considered stupid, I'm not dumb. I did not mention the suite except in reference, nor directly or indirectly mention any contributors that helped to make the suite. My comments were about the site not the artistic content of the site, which includes the suite.

I think community suites are really great and would have volunteered my time and effort into many of them if I felt that my talents were at the level of many of the contributors. I'm not there yet but I will continue to improve, maybe someday? When and if I make the grade I would be honored to be a part of that type and level of community project.

I hope this is clear to some of you now but let me reiterate: My comments were about the site not the artistic content of the site nor of any contributors.

It's really too bad that you feel it necessary to be so derisive about Skinning.net since it is run by people who are well established members here at WC.  I do agree with your comment about being honored to join a community project WHEN you make the grade.  I would suggest you might also honor those that are your betters, including those that run other skinning sites.  If you dislike someones work, give constructive comments instead of negative.  IMHO

Gotta agree with Ed. The comments were not called for...and that site has as members many folks from WC. It was an antagonistic and not constructive comment, anyway. As Ed wrote, I think you should give deference to people who've been around longer and ask yourself why they like that site before slamming it. Sitting and watching for a while and thinking might prevent feeling bad in the future.

It's also true that we've all written stuff we were sorry about at one time or another. We take our licks, and learn our lessons and keep on keepin' on.

Just to give ya an idea, most, if not all, admins/mods on WC are members of SDN.  A lot of skinners from WC upload to SDN.  We are not in competition with WC, just another outlet for skinners to upload to and get better known, as some of our members my not be members of WC.  Am sorry your disappointed with SDN(not sure why and I guess don't really care), so I would think thats why your not a member.  But some advice, an attitude adjustment might be inorder if you want people to invite you to participate in future projects because most tend to not bring in what they precieve as trouble makers(trolls).  Just a kindly word of advice.  Take it if ya want or not.

By the way, we don't sell skins, charge for membership or ask for donations.

Also, if one finds a dead link, one should PM an SDN admin telling him so he may corerect it.  We don't spend hours everyday checking links.

, the first 3 replies I think sum up at least how I feel and very possibly how some of the other members of the community that read your comments feel.

What was said, was said and what is done is done.  It's over and now let it be.

I remember reading somewhere, by someone much more intelligent then myself, that the only true key to the quality of our individual character are our words.  Once spoken our words pretty much tell whomever is listening who we are.

I think if you are dissastified with a site, the place to comment would be there, not here.

I did not mention the suite except in reference, nor directly or indirectly mention any contributors that helped to make the suite. My comments were about the site not the artistic content of the site, which includes the suite.

It didn't seem that way. I'll quote your comment from the thread in question

a tentative question, please don't hit me, I don't want to piss any of these great artists off but is there a point here???

That's what pissed me off initially. We were announcing the release of a suite which I personally invested months of work into. That careless remark (directly) belittled my and everyones hard work these months. Of course I took it personally.

It seems that your major gripe with SDN is the lack of current tutorials. That is, of course lacking on most skinning sites because no one is writing them! You did make a valid point, though about the dead links. This is something I'm sure the administrators of skinning.net will look into.

I'm sure that you have regretted the way that this has unfolded, so I for my part will forget about it and move on.

Peace

i am very pissed off  by yr comments gmc2.  if you had any idea how much work effort and time it takes to complete a whole suite, you wouldnt have said what you did.

but i am prepared to drop it and just move on..... i couldnt be bothered holding onto grudges anymore, im getting too old and fat for that.
