Problem uploading skins from disc with WB6

WB6 won't upload skins from disc from default location or user-created location

from WinCustomize Forums

Hi,


This problem started when I first updated to WB6: It won’t upload skins  from either

All Users\Shared Folders\Stardock\Windowblinds

or the user-created folder

Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\Windowblinds\Windowblinds Skins


The only way I can get skins to show up in WB6 Config. is by first applying them (double-clicking on the .bload).

Also when I change skins, the previously installed skin disappears from visual styles in WB6 Config.

Impulse keeps saying  "WB6 is not installed correctly, please check for an update" which I did, installed & rebooted but nothing changes and Impulse keeps repeating the same incorrect installation message.   Also tried uninstalling/reinstalling WB6 but the problem's still there.

 

I didn’t have this issue with the earlier version of WB(5?). If all else fails, is there a way to reinstall the earlier version?

Any suggestion/help would be most welcome.

Oops - "Impulse keeps repeating the same incorrect installation message" should read "after updating WB6, Impulse then says"WB6 is (now) installed correctly".

Yet WB6 still won't upload skins from disc.

the dates look like you did an update over what was installed (I believe Neil said before on an 'update' only those files needing updated get updated) -

 

if you archived 5 before you updated to 6 you should be able to uninstall 6 and restore the archive of 5

possibly, uninstalling 6 will cause 5 to become visible - when I had 6 uninstalled before - sdc (haven't tried with impulse yet) said I had a choice of 4, 5 or 6

 

1st though - I would try just uninstalling 6 via Impulse - reboot - clean your reg entries with something like ccleaner (it's free), then reinstall 6 via Impulse (with anti virus/malware/scripting, etc) stuff turned off, reboot and see if that helps

are those that are on disc you're looking for in .wba format or folder format?

Pausing all PC protection before reinstalling WB6 fixed the problem! :D

 

I'd already given everything you suggested a shot except suspending PC protection, which apparently threw everything off.

 

Although I have a WB5 backup, I won't need it now.
