EU Pricing for 4th of July Weekend Sale

Hi all,

I just got the mail about the Impulse 4th of July Weekend Sale and the pricing looked wonderful as always, ie. Red Faction Guerillia Pre Order for $39.99. Until I clicked on them and was redirected to the real site where the price was suddenly 49.99€ ($70.65). That's a $30(21€) Difference between the two! (This is also true for the other advertised games)

I hope this is just an error, because if not I'll not buy ane of those games off Impulse, which i would like, cause until now you service has been awesome  . (Or could it be that this is an USA thingy only(after all it's the 4th of july)? But then again I could get red faction guerillia from amazon.co.uk for 30€(inc. shipping) instead of 50€ and Streetfighter IV for 25€ instead of 35€ as it is on Impulse.)

Could someone please give me some input on this?

(By the way the pricing for other games (Sins & companions) is as wonderful as ever)

regards

raedeo

THQ sets the prices for their games on a per-territory basis, which is why it costs more outside of North America. They do this for a number of reasons, one of which is to prevent digital sales (with the weak dollar) undercutting retailers in each territory. It's not something we can change.

I think it looks bad because we list the current exchange rate for USD to GBP (or whatever currency) in our store - since when the payment occurs it happens in USD. It's just that the USD is worth a LOT less than the GBP or Euro right now. :P

I will not be buying games from Impulse any more as $80 US dollars is the most expensiv4e game i have ever seen for PC here in australia. I will also be canceling my preorder of elemental if the price doesn't get fixed soon as i want this game.

Regional pricing is not something that Stardock controls.  It is set by the publisher often to not annoy regional retail sellers.  We wish it was different and encourage one-world pricing (like we do with our games and apps).

If you need to get it at retail for a better price, we understand.

Being in Oz myself...I was curious about that $80 US ....the Australian listed price is $109.95 ....checked online via Google.

Current exchange rates are around 1.00AUD = .79c US

/me does the math..... 80 US = 101.26 AUD

You'd be saving $8.69 AUD .... not all that bad at all....;)
