Interesting trade rejection...

I was attempting to see what I could get for a planet, yes a planet, in a Drengin influenced sector. Class 14, only populated planet in that system, people were fairly happy, not ready to turn or anything, even had a couple low level improvements, but it was going to be a liability in the long run in my assessment. I went to offer the system in trade with the Drengin and lo and behold, I couldn't even get one low level tech for a whole system????? And I even had a friendly relationship with the Drengin. Are there some obscure factors here that prevent the trading of planets? Does this sound reasonable? Is this part of the "more intelligent trading"?

Thanks in advances for you opinions/comments.

I don't know, maybe because the AI generally doesn't like sub-15 planets?

Simple rule of thumb: Would *you* want the trade if it was in reverse? I'm guessing not, since you're getting rid of the thing. So, if *you* didn't want it, why would the AI? Unless they're REALLY in need of some extra production (like being exterminated or something) they are right in refusing that piddly system

Actually, I would make the trade were it in reverse. It would be in a sector where I have the majority influence now, but is COULD offer serious influence competition later in the game with more developments and / or starbases. If I could have the system for one low level take, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

I hardly consider a class 14 planet with a couple improvements "crappy", but your mileage may vary.

I tried to trade off five systems, with planets varying betweeen 14 (but that sucka was huge and would hold a lot of people) and 17. I couldn't get a single thing.. then I tried later to move *all* of my systems besides Sol for the tech the Alexians had stolen from the Yor (you know the screen you get that says they have it all and will give it to you, and that they are *particularly* interested in systems?) I was in desperate shape, so I needed something like this trade to survive. But I couldn't make it happen no matter what.

Maybe it was that lone 14 planet in there that threw it off. I hadn't considered that, since to me it was a valuable planet and only one improvement away from being class 15.. the improvement was of course frozen since my empire had been squeezed dry of cash by mismanagement and war..
