Something Different

-Dos Style Vista Gui

Hello there.

Right ive done some customization to my GUI quiet a few times in the past but now im looking for something that i havent done before.

Not improving the looks but instead dressing it down.

Im running Windows Vista Home Premium.

Im looking to replace all my Icons on my Desktop and my Taskbar with Text.

Only Text.

To give you an idea, I currently have a black Background with an icon in the middle. I would like to keep the functionality of the GUI but just replace the Taskbar with a dark green font ( similair to the older style text font on dos based systems before colour monitors rolled around.

So the end result would make the style appear as a DOS based GUI until you start using Windows Explorer / run applications.

Please if this does sound unusual in anyway please do say so that i can clarify.

You would need to download a vista clone skin and then modify the taskbar to your liking using Skinstudio,

Thanks for the quick reply, but why would i need a vista clone skin, sorry not really familiar with creating my own skins and ive been out of the loop since vista rolled around :)

Because windowblinds uses windows classic GUI to build on, not Aero. The template provided in Skinstudio is not Vista Aero it is a custom skin made by Stardock (diamond). You would need to use a Vista clone as a template so everything except the taskbar looks like Aero.

Only text...you can make a taskbar totally transparent, buttons totally transparent with text green and idem for startbutton with the word "Start" always green...and then use a dark wallpaper...you can try this thing with sks6
