LAN games do not show up.

When everything goes right and nothing happens.

Demigod just refuses to play LAN games. I can see all the internet games just fine, but nothing on my own network. I only own one copy of the game, but read that Stardock or GPG or somebody has no problem with having friends over to enjoy the game on your own computers. However, product keys or what have you don't seem to be the problem. I have a friend who also owns Demigod. I had him over and did a complete unisntall and reinstall of impulse and everything on my other computer, then used his account, just as an end-all catch-all definitely certain way to make sure it wasn't product keys or some similar compatability issue.

It didn't work. AGAIN. The only thing I haven't tried unplugging everything from teh router and just directly connecting the two computers. Something tells me that wouldn't work either, though. My router works jsut fine with every other game I own. Except most of EA's games, but they suck anyway.

I can't for the life of me figure out why. I've forwarded ports, I've even opened all of them and shut off my firewalls, I've used Hamachi, everything. Help?

How can the companies that brought me GalCiv2 and SupCom fail me so bad at the same time?

Hamachi can also cause this problem, so better uninstall that while troubleshooting. Also, if you have more than one (internet) connectionm, for instance being wired to a local fileserver, try troubleshooting those connection, and connection priorities. Windows can often be a bit picky as to which connection it choses to do stuff with. Eg trying to connect to the internet with the local fileserver connection, and ignoring the cable to the internet.

Indeed. Maybe post the whole content of ipconfig /all here, so we can see what connections you have on your PC. And I am guessing you made sure that both players run the same version? What kind of problems do you get with most EA games?

this is a possible solution, i do not know if it works with demigod, but it works with WC3.

make a shared folder on the network of your game, and both run it from the same location.

Agree with twifightDG,  I had a temporary problem where after changing the Hamachi settings to get DG to work over hamachi with some mates, I could no longer play any LAN games with my flatmate.  Uninstalling hamachi and rebooting let us see each other again no problem, it's worth giving a shot.

I have the exact same problem and i havent figured it out.
Boring when you pay for a game and it fails in simple LAN.

I you find out why this prolem is happening plz tell me.

Firstly I gotta say it's pretty unlikely that my connection is running through a file server. Not only do I not know how to do that, but these are my personal home computers. I won't be running them through anything other than my router and the phone lines in the walls.

By default Hamachi is my plan B for LAN gaming. I'm well aware of it's abilty to confuse Windows, so when I'm not using it I leave it off. Not even my regular LAN can detect Demigod games. Besides, using Hamachi when there's a perfectly functional LAN connection is like buying a golfcart so you don't have to drive your Porsch. Still, just to be sure I tried uninstalling Hamachi and met with no luck.

Anyway, I had to type this up manually because I was tired and didn't think of looking up the easy way. Just hope I'm not giving away anything sensitive. Free cookies for anyone who warns me about that.

What do you mean by "you turn Hamachi off"? In order for Hamachi not to cause problems, you have to deactivate the Hamachi Ethernet Adapter or uninstall it completely.

^ , and in the past when hamachi has caused issues for myself, disabling the adaptor wasn't even enough.

Actually, whilst uninstalling it eventually let us see LAN games again (whereas disabling the adaptor didn't), our games now both freeze for a little while when they are trying to find other LAN games and eventually seeing them.  Before installing Hamachi it was instant and smooth. But this is probably unrelated to your thread, and dont wan't to derail it!

Hope you find a fix, it's so frustrating when this sort of thing happens.

My bad, Spooky. I was under the impression that turning off Hamachi accomplished the same thing. I'll remember that for future reference.

Hm, but did it fix your problem? :)

Sadly, no. Still just as frustrated as I was before. I guess there's always Sins, SotS, or SupCom, though.

If either of you are running XP make sure that you're patched up to SP3. That prevented me from creating or accepting LAN connections in demigod.

Here is what i did to make it work. whell cind a work at least xD. The longest connection i have hade by lan is 13 min.

Made one clean install on my desktop and got all patches.

Made one clean install om my laptop and dident get all patches.
Copied the version from my desktop and replace the game i hade installed on my laptop.

I have inpulse with latest update on both computers.
They are connected by cabel and the laptop hase a wireless network card thats on the internet.
So my Desktop is in offline mode.
I dont use hamatchi at all.

I use 192.168.0.3 and sub 255.255.255.0 on one computer and
192.168.0.2 and sub 255.255.255.0 on the other.

NO firewalls on. Make sure to tur off windows firewall if its not good comfigured for the game.

Make sure that the connection between your computers by ping and file sharing.
If you can find you other computer and copy files from it and ping from both ends without problems att all then it should work.
