Anyone getting more crashes to desktop/debugger than usual?

For some reason, I have been getting more crashes than normal.  A lof of fatal errors and unhandled exceptions.  I have no idea what has changed in my system (AMD Dual-core 2.8Ghz, 4 gigs of ram, Nvidia 8800 Ultra, Vista 64bit) that would cause these crashes.  At first I thought it might've been that I updated my graphics drivers, but I sort of ruled that out (although not entirely; it just seems illogical).  Anyway, I used to only crash very sporadically, maybe once every 20 games or so.  However, lately, something seems to be wrong.  I can't tell if it's a hardware issue or just Demigod's coding.  I know of another friend who has crashed more than usual lately too.  Anyone else?

Check your memory (RAM) first. Use Memtest+ if you have no other tool for it yet. You might think RAM cannot be the issue but 90% of the time it is, and it can happen specifically in weird cases. I once had that I never had problems with a crashing pc except when I was playing WOW. Rules out pretty much anything but WOW kept crashing but after running memtest for 6 hours it showed a couple of errors, got new RAM and all was fixed. If you run the memtest let it run for a couple of hours (during the night or during work or something). Running it for 5 minutes is NOT enough!

Something is up with the game today, lots of crashes for most people I've been on voice chat with, and me too.

It seems to have died down.  I'm not sure what was going on, but in this past weekend alone I feel like I've had more crashes to desktop and to the debugger thing than from launch until now combined.  Granted, it was still only like 5 total crashes this past weekend, but 3 of them were consecutive.  I began to think it was a hardware issue in my system; however, I've since played like 15 games without any crashes.  Who knows?  Maybe we'll get an official comment sooner or later.  Nevertheless, I sent all the appropriate files to Stardock, and they're working on figuring out the cause.  I encourage all people with this sporadic issue to do the same so the devs can have has much raw info as possible to solve this.

Oh, btw, what's up Dustinbin?  We played some GG's the other day :)

Before the patch, only crashed when i was alt tabing. After the patch: crashes when i join a game and even in-game. From 7 games played since 1.1 i got 4 crashes. That's a lot, i think...Imo, it's definitely something wrong with the 1.1 patch.

Yeah the crashing thing is extremely unpredictable and sporadic.  I'm now almost certain that the crashes have nothing to do with an individual's hardware.  Rather, I really feel that it's a coding issue in Demigod.  There might be something in particular that players are doing (e.g. spam clicking? who knows?!) which triggers these crashes and yet other times does not.  Some official comment would be nice.  I myself have been crash free (sounds like Crashers Anonymous!) for about a week now (that includes pre 1.1 and post 1.1; call me lucky?).

There has been a lot of crashing lately, and especially tonight.  I don't want to sound all tin-foily but mass crashes do seem to happen more often when we're winning, as if some people have figured out a behaviour that will take down everybody else in the game.  Could certanily just be a coincidence.

I'd have to agree with you, it happens more when we're winning, rarely when we're losing.  Just close down the game and it crashes for everyone else.  There hasn't been a day since 1.1 when there HASN'T been a crash.

For any crash, please check if it created a .dmp file in My Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod. If it did, please send that file and your demigodlog.txt to [email protected] so they can pass it to the devs.
