Random FPS spike

Hey!

Over the past few days ive noticed something rather troubling while playing matches (both online and single player)

About 30mins into the match....my fps will drop (~17-26fps) when before i would be getting 60fps+

I have to reset the resolution or change shadow settings to get the fps to jump back up...but then 20-30mins later...it happenes again.

my system specs are:

Intel C2D @2.44GHz

4GB OCZ DDR3

nVidia GeForce 9800GTS OC 1GB (latest drivers updated June 9th)

this happens no matter what resolution or what graphics settings i play at. I have been able to reproduce this drastic drop of fps with all settings at their lowest. (which is troubling considering my system specs.)

it only happens with this game (tried to reproduce it in both COD4 and Crysis) and even used the /nosound fix........with no change.

my card temp is also stable....so it cant be a hardware issue.

Anyone have any ideas?

As in my post "...nVidia GeForce 9800GTS OC 1GB (***latest drivers***)..."

i installed the latest drivers for the chipset (which came out June 9th).

My OS is Windows Vista 64-bit (as i have 4gb of RAM)

Dont know if Vista 64-bit has any know issues or not w/ this game.

That doesn't mean much (just for your future refrence) you always want to say your OS. Me assuming you have a 64-bit OS would be bad on me being a IT guy ... we don't assume nothing :P.

You have no idea how many ppl buy 4GB w/ a 32-bit OS and simply don't understand they won't get it all...

It doesn't. I don't play much anymores but i played w/ Vista 64-bit ultimate and i ran with zero problems. The ONLY thing i could guess is that your CPU is being strained to much.

Next time you are in a game watch your "Sim Speed" (when you press the TAB key to see the scoreboard). Check it at the start of the fight, near the middle, and the end. And remember what the number is and report back here :).

My Sim speed is fine (always 8-9)

but the troubling thing i notice is the temp of my video card...

when playing games like COD4, Crysis, Guild Wars my card never gets any hotter than 61-70C......but when playing Demigod....just a few mins in, my temp spikes to 80C...and continues to rise to the low 90's.

Even when i run everything at its lowest settings, my card still gets up to 85-90C.

Whats the deal w/ that? lol

***EDIT***

And my card is fine.....it idles at 39C just mins after i close Demigod down. And UT3 and Crysis are much higher in terms of graphics demand.....and i run those at near max settings.

Any idea why Demigod burns my card so fast?
