Hit and miss connection

Cannot work out why it sometimes works

NAT proxy switch does not work for me at all - get error

So trying to open ports - I have 6002-6200 UDP open and forwarded to my PC - port forward.com confirms this

I disabled UPnP

So I am left with the following

Sometimes I get into the game and can play. Othertimes I connect to some people and others show as 0 ping in lobby.

No one EVER shows as connected to me, unless I show as waiting to connect to them

Often when I hit cancel/leave lobby/time out/get booted I end up having to kill the demigod process via task manager as the game locks up

Do this often enough and I can't even get back into MP mode as Impulse logon tells me invalid username/password. I have the remember option enabled, and if I come back later it works again.

This is driving me nuts. I was able to host Sins of a Solar Empire games in 1.05 before the alloy fix came out to fix people's issue so I can obviously open ports and port forward, yet I cannot consistently get into a demigod game.

Hey - I didn't have precisely the same issue as you, but here are the settings I changed that resolved a connectivity issue for me.  Not entirely sure this will be of any benefit to you, but it is something to try.  What is your current network setup (eg do you have a cable modem connected to a router, etc)?  If you have a router, what do you have?

Taken from one of my other posts:

I believe I was able to resolve it by re-configuring my router (WRT54Gv8) and reconfiguring impulse reactor.  Then, the issue stopped completely.  A few weeks after I upgraded to Win7 and still do not have the issue.  I'm not 100% I have the best settings possible, but I am certain that the issue stopped after I made the changes.

Impulse reactor settings - start port 6100.  end port 6200.

Router -

Block Anonymous Internet Requests
Filter Multicast
Filter Internet NAT Redirection
Filter IDENT(Port 113)

router is setup to forward UDP on 6073-6200 to my internal ip. router is setup to forward UDP on 6073-6200 to my internal ip.

Give it a shot!

Also - I think my previous issue was caused by not configuring impulse reactor.  It can be found at C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Demigod\bin (or someplace similar based on your install).  So, if you haven't touched that yet, start there.

I have changed Impulse reactor - trying to forward 6002-6200

Using Billion 7402NX (think that is right - the one with the 1Gbps switch inbuilt)

Just updated the firmware - can't even get into MP anymore like I did above - don't think i have the settings setup now

Using ADSL btw

Try setting your computer to be the in the DMZ. This will mean you have no firewall protection, but should test if the router is causing the issues.

Tried it - didn't seem to make any difference...

Patch finally allowed dropping firewall to work.

From there I was able to setup ports correctly (I had them setup this way before but it didn't work)
