Proxies useless for Australians

Proxied connections are insanely slow amongst other Australians / New Zealanders that I've played with who have tried to use proxies to connect to each other, trans pacific proxies are still hella slow. I'm loving this game and am only having problems connecting with a few mates which is annoying but you're gonna lose a large chunk of these countries if it doesn't work. Aussies / Kiwis, we have a history of being discarded by online games and companies, our broadband isn't the best as is and factor in trans pacific lag and time zone differences and the gaming community here gets frustrated very easily. I love demigod, I want it to succeed. I'm telling you this not to flame you but to hope that maybe you'll factor this into your decisions.

you are probably being routed to america and back at the moment.

in the next patch they are going to add a "smart" proxy system which allow us aussies to connect to the closest proxy

there are proxy servers in australia

they are also trying to reduce bandwidth used by the game for next patch aswell.

Yeah noticed that post just after I posted this, sounds good. Like I said I'm not bashing them just hopefully making them aware of what seems to be the prevalent attitude amongst most gamers I've spoken to down under. Sounds like they're working with us in mind. Yay Frogboy + co. :D

I tried to join some AU only games last night (first MP game). The US guys wouldn't let me play due to my ping. When I did get into a game, I didn't even see 2 of the other guys in my connection info - but I could see them in the lobby. I have my ports open (6073UDP and 6100-6200UDP), forwarded those ports and ran the impulsereactoroptions program and set the range to use to 6100-6200. Turning off the firewall didn't work.

As stated above, it is hard enough to get a game in Australia (playing Sins after work = no one on as they are all asleep). There needs to be a diagnostic tool for helping people work out what is wrong with their connection info.

have you tried the /serverproxyonly command in your shortcut?

Not yet - I was hoping to work out why my issue occurs before going to that option. Surely if I have the ports open I shouldn't need it???

Tried it with the switch

While I did get a game, not very impressed with the netcode - it is sooo slow. I thought Sins was hard to get a MP game going!!!
