Saving Replays

Sorry I'm sure this has been brought up before but I couldn't find a thread dedicated to it.  I hope there is some plan to add this function in the future.  Me and my buds play a lot of RTS's and one of the things we enjoy a lot is watching our good matches over again whether its versus ai or humans.  It's really a lot of fun and also a good way to pick up strategies/tactics (eg. gamereplays.org) and also just to have a good laugh.

Anyway I'm sure some of you long time forum goers can tell me what the status of this is.  Thanks in advance.

Lastly thanks Stardock for the 50% off coupon, one of my friends put it to use and is enjoying the game.

Sorry to tell you Cyan, but yes, many (MANY) people have requested replays.  In fact, I'd say it was one of the top "non bug fix" requests.  Gas Powered Games (not Stardock) is in charge of that area of the game, and I'm not sure I've seen/heard anything from them on this issue.  There is an area where replays are stored, but no way of watching them (well, someone on the boards had a workaround for it, but it was too buggy for me too use, do a search on "replays" and you may find the thread).

Though I agree. This game probably should have shipped with replay support, to be kind. Unlike these other newer gimmicks (VoIP for 12 year olds anyone?), this oldie has many uses and is pretty central to the competitive scene.

Ya, I played a great 3v3 game yesterday; everyone was friendly and a good player; it was a back and forth game the entire time, and all I could think of during the end of the game was (Damn, I'll never to get to see a replay of this epic game, let alone share it with others).

It sadens me greatly to say this, but another friend of mine got tired of waiting for all the Demigod fixes, and got DoWII (a game I've had since it released).  I've played him online twice now, and again, super sad to say, we connect quick, easy, and without problems, there "Was" a bit of game imballenced (a patch ironed that out mostly); matchmaking and rankings work great; and we got to watch the replys of our games (twice) afterwards for a good laugh and those "Ooooo, I ganked you there!" type mouments.  Not to mention the AI is pretty darn good too.

And with the campain that came with it, adds a whole new challenge, in addition to making it more of a "world" than just a game.

So here's hoping SD and GSG will, eventualy make DG just as good, or better.  But still, I really wished they'd have released a more complete and tested game to begin with; I can only tell my friends "please just wait" for just so many weeks till they give up and get another game :(
