Problems with DG - cpu/laptop gets too hot

hi,

im having some issues about my laptop getting too hot. ive played crises or did some hard (and long) brenchmarks, but my laptop does not heat up so much, like DG does. if im just in the normal gui, no match searching, not playing, my laptop heats so much up i can make some eggs on it. does anyone has some similar expiriance?

ps: ive also tryed to turn all effekt to low etc. but its still the same effect

Ive had this issue with this game, and many others.  The problem is if you do not have vertical sync enable in some games your GPU goes crazy with FPS.  With VS off on a title screen you can get upwards in 1000s of FPS for no reason. This will overheat a GPU especially as long as we sit in the lobbies and such.

so.. in conclusion enable vertical sync in your game menu and make sure you don't have it forced off in your nvidia or catalyst control panel.

Hope this helps!

Actually... it DOES seem like my video card is hotter than usual while playing Demigod. I mean, I'll have my fan going in my room, and all of a sudden I still feeling warmer than usual. Turns out, while playing Demigod (and I mean literally ONLY demigod does this happen) I can feel the heat from my computer coming from the back of the case bouncing off the walls on to me. I am going to try Baron's suggestion to see if that works. This is indeed weird, as I've played much more demanding games on my system and I've never "felt" the heat coming from my computer.

Make sure that you aren't blocking any vents.  It hurts the poor computer )=

its a notebook, so if its getting hot (2 games in a row) i have to quit DG for about 10minuten, because my network card getting too hot to play. sounds funny, but isnt :/ i will try the sync, thanks for that.

If your computer gets too hot, add more fans.

In case of an overheating laptop, it's a clear design failure. You want to return it and get your money back. Buy a proper laptop instead.

CPUs and graphic chips have a TDP, a thermal design power. It's the maximum amount of power they can draw. The built-in cooling has to designed to cope with the TDP sum of all components.

Many vendors use insufficient cooling because it's cheaper. They hope that Joe average doesn't notice it if he's just surfing the web and reading mails.

Long story short: Your hardware is broken.

as writen above, i have this laptop about 1 year now. allways played the latest games, with almost high graphic. never had the problem of a too hot notebook. it just appears when i play DG or even when i DO NOT play demigod. yesterday i forgot to switch DG off and was in the gui for about 30minutes. just the normal GUI before multiplayer (right after the video) heaten my laptop that much... its kind of cheesy?

i turned on vertical sync but didnt helped much. ingame it seems DG doenst get so hot like before, but in the gui/searching mode it still got a hell lot of heat.

btw it CANT be that enourmus graphic, i turned everything to lowest possible. the game looks like crap now but still so much heat... :(

Play in a cool room, place the notebook on a hard surface and not anything like carpet,  poor a bucket of ice on it?  Other than that all I can think of is buying some additional or better coolers.

You say you've had it around 1 year right? Sounds about right for a gaming laptop to start totaly crapping out. I have had plenty of friends go against my advice and get laptops and use them for gaming. ALL of them around ~1 year to ~1 1/2 years start to completely die. Why? Heat issues. In my opinon laptops are NOT(Repeat)NOT gaming machines. They just can't design a good way to make a laptop and have perfect cooling required for gaming. Sure you can play games on it just as good as a desktop but in the end ... the desktop lasts alot longer because it can cool itself. The laptop eventually can't and destroys itself.

The reason by the way you were just at the GUI of Demigod and it was heating up has nothing to do with graphics. Its processor. Demigod is a processor whore. It's the easiest i can put it ... if no one believes me next time you have demigod up go open ur task manager and look at your performance and take a look at that CPU usage (just be at the main menu yourself). You will be shocked. (Note: CPU usage might go down if game is "minimized". I run in window mode which means i can look at task manager while playing the game without having to minimize it).

Thats just my 2 cents :).
