Hey, MJ. I got the impression they were crediting SD/Mike Bryant, MyColors...etc. Looked more like a promo to me than a rip...BUT that download link DOES NOT lead to WC or to SD.

I'll pm Jafo about it, if you haven't already.

doc....it is a RIP because they are storing the blind on their site!  And, most likely they did not get permission to do that....and, if I remember correctly, you can only get this blind with Windowblinds....not as a stand alone blind in the WB Gallery...I may be wrong though.

You can go ahead and notify Jafo if you want...I haven't done that yet.

I thought my "BUT" dependent clause (albeit not preceeded with a comma) made my thought clear. Sorry if the tone wasn't penetrating/evident enough. The printed word is lacking in that.

Seems to me to be a rather bizarre rip...to credit the people who created the skin at the same time as offering it for download without the parent site's permission.

The download is a .wba file. This makes it a rip. It's a major no-no to do that, even if the accreditation is given and only someone with WB can open it. 

OK? Everyone understand my intention now?

Incidentally, there's a wallpaper very nearly identical to Vladstudio_gearwheel on that site also.

It's quite common to 'inadvertently' rip .... by hosting skins for others to dl....simply because you/they don't understand the mechanics of how sites such as Wincustomize, Devart, etc operate.

We have our content provided BY the artist.

Many 'private' sites simply DL the works from us and elsewhere and host them directly....without so much as consulting us [the host] or the skinner [the copyright owner].

Whether commercial content or not.....or correctly 'credited' or not .... it's copyright theft via unauthorised distribution.

I'll pen a request shortly.....tho it's currently 1.38 am, Monday here...so maybe on the morrow...;)

It's better doing something 'wrong', than doing nothing at all - at least in cases like this
