Can't kill off the AI during a game

Has anybody completely killed off your adversary, occupied all of thier planets and the AI claimed you the victor (I elected to keep playing), but when you check on your adversary on the diplomacy window, his window is still perfect and not broken.  I even as a joke sent a message to start trading with them and AI answered.  So I went through each of their "former" planets and asteroid belts and found not one single ship on the map.  All during my "hunt" to find that last ship, the AI continued to try and give me missions.  The other odd thing I found out, Rebels started attacking my planets while I was still trying to find the missing ship.

Now has anybody else ran accross this before?

I have never seen this happen.  Was there only this one ai race for the entire game? What map are you playing on?

You might be playing on an older version... try updating if so...

Also, if it's a multi system map, they might have planets in another system that you aren't in... look there if so...

The Rebel ships are a result of the TEC Civilian tech Insurgency. It must have been a long game for an AI to get Tier 8 technologies.

I've personally never had that problem. Can't help, sorry. (I love that insurgency tech. I only ever play as TEC, as I'm just bad at learning new things, and it's so nice to hear howls of rage from across the room as someone has to pull ships from a fleet to take care of a few rebels :))

I've had that happen. It's usually any AI players that I was allied with at point of victory that this happens to, or otherwise the last AI standing in the game.  To avoid it you need to not let the program declare you the victor until the last possible moment.  Try declaring war on all AI right before you think you're gonna win, this will trick the computer into giving a longer game until the victory conditions are meet.

I'd have to agree with this guy (the bolded parts)... try hitting the "C" button, and then pressing and holding the "B" button for a few seconds to zoom out really far... perhaps there is another Star System that you didn't see... that happened to me once when I was freshly starting out on this game; and it pissed me off to no end because I was a noob at the time and had trouble figuring out that you could only travel to other star systems from another star itself... lol.

Ah, noob memories... :)
