Lost CD-Key, Recovery Failed.

Finally recovered my computer and so I decided to update all my remaining games...

Hello everyone,

I recently recovered my main computer after it decided to remove itself from my possession involuntarily for a period of time (IE stolen), and while it's still missing the premium keyboard, speakers, and a few hardware pieces, it remains a solid machine, and in any case I decided to update all the games that I still have or were still instilled on the large hard-drive and I saw sins and remembered how I enjoyed it so I decided to update it, well that failed, and so I looked at an account I made and of course that only gave me a 3 digit cd-key which is obviously not the full version, so I checked the registry and of course it wouldn't be there either (Stardock and Ironclad games really have a nack for installing things on vista in really wierd locations.) in any case I've been unable to update my game and thus I will not be capable of really getting entrechment un-updated.

It should be stated that the reason I wasn't already updated is because I don't play multiplayer games, I buy the games for single-player and story and an occasional lan party, but aside from that I don't really like dealing with immature or uneducated people online, nor do I like encountering rushes, spams, masses, and other really dishonorable and cheapening tactics, so I play my games via SP or via lans, and since I just got my computer back while I was trying to update everything I noticed I apparently didn't have an attached cd-key to my account and therein lies the problem.

You see, I'd very much like to update the game and then as long as I like how things are progressing with patches, I'd then get the new "mini-expansion" but unfortunately I don't seem to be capable of doing that, and thus I'd like some assistance in acquiring the cd-key for the game I have installed, that I can play, but can't update.

Thank you very much.

I have no idea where that will be.  To be in the registry, you'd have had to put it there, in which case you wouldn't need to put it in again.  If you have a registered account already, your cd key is stored and can be checked on Stardock by hitting the my account button up there and hitting the registrations tab.

If you've had Impulse installed, it will be in a RegistrationsCache.xml that will be stored in the Vista version of docs and settings\user\Application Data\Stardock\Impulse.  I don't know where SDC stored them, I uninstalled that quite a while ago.

You probably need to find the box.

As I stated above, many things were stolen, and so I've been working on recovering most of my cd-keys for programs, games, and other software, and while I've recovered a lot of them via the registry, reclaiming what was stolen, and assistance from others, some of the stuff so far has been unrecoverable and that's why I was asking if there is a way for me to update the game so I can get the expansion and play it offline without having to buy a 40 - 50 dollar game all over again, which would be very unfortunate.

As I also stated above I never had a reason to register the account as I don't do multiplayer, and I only registered a few days ago so as to update it when my system was recovered.

IIRC Sins does not ask for the cdkey on a retail disc install, so unless you've registered it we unfortunately can't do much to recover it since we won't have it. If you don't have the box or manual anymore though you may be able to contact [email protected] about getting a new key at a discount.
